There was no jackpot winner in the Wednesday night drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery game, causing the grand prize to increase to an estimated $216 million for Saturday's drawing.
Wednesday was the 10th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner. The jackpot run started February 9 as a $40 million jackpot.
The estimated cash value for the new jackpot is $132.8 million. After-tax cash and annuity prize amounts are reported state-by-state on the Jackpot Analysis page at USA Mega, a web site devoted to the Powerball and Mega Millions multi-state lottery games.
Players should note that jackpot amounts are conservative estimates provided by the lotteries, and are often somewhat higher by the time the drawing occurs.
Although there were no jackpot winners Wednesday, 5 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize: 2 from Florida, 1 from Kentucky, 1 from New Hampshire, and 1 from North Dakota. None of the second-prize winners purchased the Power Play option. If they had, their second-prize win would have automatically doubled to $2 million.
37 tickets matched four white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Of those tickets, 6 were purchased with the Power Play option, increasing the prize to $40,000.
The Powerball winning numbers for Wednesday, March 13, were 5, 9, 28, 32, and 38, with Powerball number 29.
Following the Wednesday drawing, the Powerball annuity jackpot estimate was raised $33 million from its previous amount of $183 million. The cash value was raised by $20.3 million, from its previous amount of $112.5 million.
The next Powerball drawing will take place Saturday night at 10:59 pm Eastern Time.
When a Powerball ticket is purchased with the Power Play option for an extra $1 per ticket, any non-jackpot prize is increased according to a fixed prize schedule, which can be found on the Powerball Drawing Detail page at USA Mega, as well as on the Powerball Prize Payouts page at Lottery Post.
Powerball is now played in 42 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 pm Eastern Time. Tickets cost $2 each.
On April 8, California will join the Powerball game, becoming the 43rd state to play the game. After California joins the game, Powerball will be available for purchase in every U.S. state that operates a lottery.
The Powerball winning numbers are published at USA Mega (www.usamega.com) minutes after the drawing takes place.

$216 million let the Frenzy begin!!!!!!
Another dollar, another chance
Hi Everyone,
I will play at least 3 lines, but not more than 5 lines this time, as I wasn't even close last night. I could get much luckier though. Or so I keep telling myself.
Good luck to all. Time for one of us (or more) to win!
Well last night I decided to pick my numbers this time and tried to give some thought to it. I bought 3 lines with the powerplay (usually only play one line). Anyway I had the powerball number so only won 12 dollars but I had 3 numbers that were just off by one digit. After getting lots of QP's with 3 numbers in a row I realized that I'm better off picking numbers for now (I don't want to get locked into a set of numbers though and feel I have to play those all the time). I'm just happy to win the 12 dollars because most of the time I win 0. Looking forward to Saturday.
Good job on winning $12.00 it's more than I won lol.....
I am thinking green ........................
Green with $$$$$$$
Its only the beginning- l have said that this jackpot is going to climb higher and enter April where some lucky winner in California, yeah this California is going to win the whole thing... Did l tell ya or did l tell ya?
Think positive people..!
People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.

AZ is due for a second big win.
Congrats on picking up a $12 win last night, even that is never easy in the PB game. As for picking your own numbers and getting locked into a specific set have you considered picking new numbers each draw for some lines while perhaps keeping a line or two the same? Granted it's more work choosing new numbers a few times per week but it will help you to recognize patterns and game tendencies.
Try the LP QP generator, and you can see the numbers BEFORE you buy them..........

Oh no, no, no, noise-gate Oklahoma will be winning this Jackpot
$1,000,000 winning ticket sold in Nashua, NH. Was that Mcginnin?
He posted this am and made no mention of being the winner.
Hi dallascowboyfan,
Thanks, hopefully you will win something good on saturday!
Hi msharkey2001,
Thanks for your congrats. As I mentioned I'm trying not to pick set numbers that I have to play all the time and instead just randomly picking numbers but giving it some thought before I pick them. Truth is last night was the first time in a long time that I did pick my own numbers and that was only because of the problems I've been having with the QP's (I posted a problem with QP the other day). As you say it is more work to choose new numbers each time but beginning to think that it might be worth it. Will still do the occasionals QP but not as often anymore because I continue to get bad numbers or numbers from previous draws on them.
congrats on 12 bucks lol

only 3 rollovers left away form 500m/near 600m range 4th draw
thro i think it stands a good chance at being won any draw. thro if no one at lottery post wins, i hope it keeps going baby rofl.
thro with these high jackpots, we tend to have more then 1 winning tickets a lot of time
both PB/MM records in 2012 had shared winning tickets, and a lot of 300m ones do as well
anyway lets enjoy CA players media reports as they cross the borders to play
at lest they get access to playin next month
$216M!!! I'm dreaming big on this one!
nice thief magnets thar, golfer
I'd like some magnets like that!
I'll stick to my old iron
I don't think a dollar is going to cut it for Powerball. One dollar buys you half a ticket.
I will play my usual 3 lines and I am also in an office pool with two other people so $10 is my total budget. Hopefully I get some of that money back.
I have my 5 lines ready for action. I hope this is the JP we split.
Yessir! The 7 year old combination needs to come in for us. TBH I'd be glad to go home with just $20M, after taxes though . Its not too much money and not too little.
i think i'm going to wait to get my tickets @the last minute
Id be happy for 2nd prize,
Drawing the day before St. patrick's day someone just might be the LUCKY WINNER!!
Would those who won 2nd prize for 1 millions get the whole 1 millions all at once before taxes?
Uncle Sam has no problem collecting these 2 and others if one does not pay their fair share of taxes. Ask Nicholas Cage and Willie Nelson.
Cage had his " Castle" repossessed and Willie- they removed speakers from his studio as part of the " you owe us" and have come up short.
The second prize is not an annuity so you get the whole prize after they withhold 25% for the federal taxes and or about 5% for the state taxes. Most people end up with about 680,000 from the many happy stories I have read.
That is a nice house. I always notice it when I play golf as it's situated across the lake from my neighborhood. I believe it's owned by a former baseball player. It's quite a step up from the dream homes you previously wanted
I agree, I notice I do best when I buy my tickets no sooner than 6:30 PM the day of the drawing. Doesn't matter if they're my numbers or QP's. The tickets I almost never win anything on are the multi-draws I buy for the whole month. They almost never win anything. I'm quitting that after this month's tickets expire. Then I'll buy my tickets only on the day of the drawing as late as possible.
OMG hearse, that is an ugly truck!
It only needs a new paint job. But if you "really" like it, then I'm happy for you!
don't get me wrong i have won BIG many times on Local States games running them 14days @ a time, but when it come to powerball & Mega i think there just is to many people playing so i'm gonna try getting them later in the evening day of drawing to see if that may mix up the numbers some.
Good Luck
Hi Jill, I can't believe you know this house in Orlando!! Yes, it is way above what I deserve but we're talking $216M!!!! I'm glad to hear it is on or near a golf course because that is what I want.
Price: $9.6M, 6bd, 13ba and 14,447 sq ft. For your interior viewing pleasure:
I noticed the same thing about the multi-draws!
I might buy my ticket on Saturday (the day before St. Patrick's Day) at 11:11am. Maybe, I will have the luck of the Irish (even though I'm not Irish, but my name is--I think), and then I can make a wish to win the jackpot at 11:11 :)
Haha! The image on the movie room screen is an image of the house. Nice marketing move!
You may also have to pay the 3.8% medicare tax. Not sure of the exact rules on this.
It is strongly advised to sign the back of your lotto ticket after you purchase it to protect yourself from loss or theft.
If you don’t sign your ticket someone else can claim your lotto winnings.
If you have lost a lotto ticket is it advised to contact the lotto you were playing and be able to provide them with information such as where and what time you bought the ticket from and what your chosen numbers were (and often useful if you know what else you bought at the same time).
Not sure what you are talking about? The government takes out their taxes before you get the money so there is no issue of them coming to take any of these items if you don't pay your taxes, they have already been paid. You would only lose the house if you don't pay your property taxes and if you can't do that with $100+ million, then that is your own <snip> fault. Quite frankly it is your own <snip> fault if you don't pay any of your taxes regardless.
