Winning that amount of money doesn't allow you to live the life without thinking about money, it can make you very comfortable and have a nice house and a car or two and some nice gadgets but it doesn't allow you to spend like there is no tomorrow. A fool and their money soon parted.

          I Agree!

          Very wise words Josh!

The broke winner says "money is the root of all evil" ? BS! Your foolish spending was your downfall! As far as the $200,000 cadillac...I am lost for words. Crazy

I guess the old saying that a fool and their money are soon parted is true.    Newbie here I've stalked around the board and never posted just wanted to say hi.

Welcome! It's fun, informative, and sometimes controversial in the LP discussion forums, so embrace it :)

For me, just being seen in that Cadillac would be one of life's most embarrassing moments.

              Haha! Right?!

I hate reading about stories like this, but you know what; it's neccessary so we'll know what not to do when and if we hit it big...  New to the forum.. What's up LP?

Hey!!! Welcome to the lottery conversation!

I just wish someone from LP could win it, I know they would be smart with their new blessing.

I hope to win one day but I know it's very unlikely per the odds. If I did win however, I know I would be very prudent and savvy with my new wealth. I have seen way too many winners go broke. Not wanting to be on a list that includes David Edwards and the imbecile in this article would be motivation enough to manage my winnings very carefully should I ever be lucky enough to win. Yes Nod

I just can't envision winning and losing $10 million. It's almost sacrilegious in a way. To be blessed in such a way with a windfall like that and to blow it all on things like that cadillac?!?! No Nod

It's sickening. It's their money to blow, but there is something just sickening and stomach turning about it.

I'd live off the interest. I'd budget $250,000 a year--I could live a very comfortable life with that. The rest of the interest would go to charities!!!

Do a search for his name, not sure what the latest news is on him. Last I heard he was penniless, lost his home to foreclosure in palm beach and was in a hospital with back problems. I heard something about his wife Shawna being dead of a drug overdose but didn't confirm this. For those that don't know DE won about $25 million back in 2001 and blew through EVERY SINGLE PENNY in about 5 years. Eek
