I'll probably be buying my first PB tickets tonight since they went up to $2.  I feel it's not likely to roll again and I like trying to win jackpots this size and larger.

I was looking for some of my old workouts and realized I hadn't played MM or PB for quite a while.  MM 'cause all 75 numbers hadn't hit and PB 'cause of the $2 price.  As soon as 61,66 and 68 has hit I'll probably start playing MM again regularly unless it gets to $400M+ first.

There is a 65-66% chance of a rollover tonight.

If it does roll, annuity will be $500 million and cash will be $284.7 million.

If the chances of winning the jackpot are so slim, why play when the jackpot is so small? Your chances never change, but the potential payoff does.
If a crystal ball showed you the future of the rest of your life, and in that future you will never win a jackpot, would you still play?

      2016: -48.28% (13 tickets) ||

Thanks for your input.  I have my 2 QP's for this evening. If it rolls, I will let both my children pick the numbers.

I have a feeling this one will reach the dam billion before it's won.

LottoMetro is no fortune teller, he'd just like you to think he is. Wink

Those numbers come from a published Powerball Jackpot estimate document, which you can see here:

                http://www.txlottery.org/export/sites/lottery/Documents/jackpotestimates/pb20140219.pdf

That $500M is just an initial advertised jackpot value, not even taking into account actual sales for this draw. If it does roll again, the Saturday JP is likely to be higher by draw time, around $540M. And the draw after that probably won't hit a billion, more like $850M, which would be a new record.

Has bad weather had anything to do with the size of the jackpot ?

Since the start of 2013 there have been 4 jackpots that went over 300 million and this is them with the number of rollovers.

                  $338 million with 12 rollovers

                  $590 million with 13 rollovers

                  $448 million with 12 rollovers

                  $399 million with 11 rollovers

Right now there have been 15 rollovers and the estimated jackpot is $400 million. Could bad weather across much of the country the last month be part of the reason the JP is sitting at $400 million after 15 rollovers? If the $399 million was that much after 11 rollovers just imagine how big it would have been if it had just rolled over 2 more times. There have been some serious snow and ice storms hit in the last few weeks so i imagine theres been people who planned on playing the day of the drawing but might have been unable to drive that day. Or is it a combo of bad weather and so many large jackpots the last couple of years that people dont go as crazy over large jackpots like they previously did? Not that 400 mill isnt a nice figure but after 15 rollovers it seems like it should be much larger.

I agree that the number of rollovers have been getting longer for both MM and PB.

More than like it's due to jackpot fatigue as it seems folks don't really get excited until these numbers exceeds $300 million. I think bad weather has only played a minor role in this most recent run.

                    Hello all,

My name is Jon and this is my first post as I'm a new member here.  I'm a lottery dreamer and try to play PB, Mega and the NY lotto every week.

It's great to see all the pictures of the homes/cars etc that people would buy if they won.

Best of luck to all playing Power Ball tonight, and just remember, IF you happen to win tonight I was probably your "lucky charm"!  Hyper

I likely can't take credit for any jackpot winners after that though. >.<

*so if I don't win tonight, please... someone else here win* :D

I've only got my one set of numbers that I play each draw and my one weekly QP with work.

So if it's "meant to be" I'm not one to complain. Sun Smiley

Best of luck to you too!
