ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico Lottery is celebrating its 20th anniversary, unveiling a special logo and rewarding players with extra rewards points.

Since launching on April 27, 1996, the New Mexico Lottery has sold approximately $2.6 billion in tickets with prizes of more than $1.4 billion. And, New Mexico Lottery sales resulted in many positive economic impacts, among which were:

  • 53 prizes of $1 million or more — including five Powerball jackpots totaling $526.1 million;
  • More than $174 million in retail commissions;
  • Nearly $28 million in state taxes from prize winnings; and
  • 103,510 Legislative Lottery Scholarship recipients.

"We're proud of our many accomplishments and look forward to continuing the success of the Lottery as we generate revenue to educate the next 100,000 students," said David Barden, New Mexico Lottery chief executive officer.

To kick off the year-long milestone, the Lottery created a special anniversary logo that features a banner draped over the Lottery's roadrunner icon. The logo will be displayed on Lottery advertising, including Point of Sale and digital ads throughout the year.

Additionally, the Lottery's Points and Rewards Promotion will multiply player entries by 10 times on the Lottery's April 27th anniversary.

I"ve driven through NM a time or two or three.
I guess I like it.  Low, sort of rounded-top mountains.  Incredible scenery, especially on a sunny day, with plenty of clouds around.

The interstate bridges painted in pastel colors, for instance, there's a light sort of aqua/blue color I've referred to as "bathroom blue".

Then, in the midddle of nowhere, there's a convience/curiosity store, where you can buy a stuffed bison for like $20K. Or a sfuffed mountain lion for like $7K.

So, visit New Mexico today folks.

To celebrate, and to raise additional revenue, the New Mexico Lottery should offer a subscription service.

Can I play the New Mexico Lottery if I live in another state?

While visiting New Mexico, travelers can purchase New Mexico Lottery games from Lottery retailers across the state and bring the tickets back to their home state or country. Currently, no Lottery can sell tickets over the Internet or by mail across state lines or the U.S. national border. Any Internet lottery site that purports to sell tickets or "shares" for games such as Powerball is operating illegally.
