A Strafford, Missouri, great grandmother scratched off a lottery win two weeks in a row, and the second one was a whopper.
Doris Danielson first won $1,000 on a "300,000,000 Golden Ticket" Scratcher ticket, prompting a trip to Lottery headquarters in Springfield to cash it in. While there she scratched up a $1 million jackpot in the same Scratcher ticket game.
"I'm very fortunate, I'll tell you that much," Danielson said in a news release.
"My daughter and I were going to Springfield to go shopping on Saturday (Sept. 3), and we stopped by Kum & Go to get her a soda," said Danielson, who purchased her ticket from Kum & Go, 125 S. State Highway 125, in Strafford. "I bought her a $5 ticket, and I got the 'Golden Ticket' for myself."
Danielson, a great-grandmother-of-five, was still in the parking lot of the Lottery retail location with her daughter when one of her numbers on the "Golden Ticket" matched a winning number with a $1 million prize.
"Oh, it was so exciting! I about had a heart attack," said Danielson. "My daughter had to bring the ticket back into the store to make sure it wasn't a joke."
Danielson plans to share her $1 million win with her three children, just as she's done for all of her lottery prizes, but has yet made a decision on what she would like to do with her portion of the prize.
The first $30 Scratchers ticket offered by the Missouri Lottery, "$300,000,000 Golden Ticket" was introduced on Jan. 25 in celebration of the Lottery's 30th anniversary.
Danielson claimed one of 12 $1 million second-tier prizes available in the game. Players who have a My Lottery account have an added value when they enter their non-winning "Golden Tickets" into the accompanying "Golden Ticket" Second-Chance Promotion.
The first of three second-chance drawings awarding a $1 million grand prize takes place Sept. 27.
