Barry Pack is now the official nominee for director of the Oregon Lottery.
Gov. Kate Brown announced Friday she has nominated Pack to head the agency, pending Senate confirmation.
Pack has served as acting director of the Lottery since Brown fired former Director Jack Roberts in April, citing "management problems." Pack previously served as director of the Department of Administrative Services. He also was an aide to Brown when she was secretary of state and a state senator.
Roberts had been at odds with two Oregon Lottery commissioners who opposed his promotion of an Iranian-American lottery manager. Roberts accused Commissioners Liz Carle and Mary Wheat of discriminating against the manager because of his national origin. An outside investigation of the civil rights complaint found that the commissioners' concerns were related to performance and identified no evidence of discrimination.
Roberts has also said he thought his termination was related to his decision to place an assistant director, Roland Iparraguirre, on paid administrative leave.
As director, Pack will oversee administration of the lottery and serves as secretary and executive officer of the Oregon Lottery Commission.
Nice job if you can get it, but I won't accept any job that prohibits me from playing the lottery.
I hope that California Lottery will not offer casino type games like Oregon has. Such as electronic games like poker. Video Lottery Terminals are addicting. They hurt the poor more than PB & MM do.
That is my two cents...
Congratulations and Good Luck
Can he do that....? just asking.
