A Lebanon, Oregon, man was arrested after he sent a shooting threat in an e-mail to the Oregon Lottery.

The Oregon State Police said Jason David Ouellette, 42, was arrested on suspicion of menacing Tuesday afternoon. 5½ hours earlier Ouellette had sent an email to the Lottery's Salem headquarters with "an imminent threat to shoot and kill people," the law enforcement agency said.

Ouellette was jailed in Marion County without incident, troopers said, but was later released from the jail due to overcrowding.

In a message provided by Oregon State Police on Thursday, Ouellette apologized to anyone at the lottery agency frightened by the shooting threat and says he plans to get help for his gambling addiction.

"I was angry at myself after losing a substantial amount of money playing a lottery machine the previous day," said Ouellette, 42. "I have struggled with gambling for many years."

The police did not specify how much money Ouellette lost.

I can see how you can get lost in the gambling thing real easy.. with all the high jackpots ..easy money..sometimes you just have to step back and breath..it is a scary world out there ..but it still didn't give him the right to scare people like this

People are desperate and have very little nothing these days.  Sad about what is being reported.   Once the gambling hotline finds out someone's info and they are on that list that is it.

I wonder what his LP name is.

Scared

At least he admitted his problem, usually it's not the problem gambler* that goes to GA at first (or any such org.) it's a family member or friend that says, "So and so has really got a problem."

Thank You California Lottery Commission on keeping those machines out of our State.

We live by laws and rules that we impose on each other. We do not need more problem gamblers.

I am thinking of those machines that are like slot machines. They are very addictive. I hope that Californians are satisfied with the lottery games we have today.
