Powerball

One lucky person will get to start 2020 with $1 million in their pocket — and Jessie James Decker will announce the winner.

The country-pop star is set to announce the first-ever Powerball Millionaire of the Year during the live broadcast of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2020, as revealed in a press release.

"I am so thrilled to be a part of this incredible life-changing moment on one of the most iconic shows on television!" Decker, 31, said in a statement.

The $1 million winner will be randomly awarded as part of a larger, second-chance prize drawing. Powerball players in 25 participating jurisdictions have the opportunity to win a trip to N.Y.C. to celebrate New Year's Eve 2020; additionally, they have a shot at being the First Powerball Millionaire of the Year.

All second chance prize-winners will enjoy New York City with a holiday cruise and theater performance. The winners will also score roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, and will be invited to a New Year's Eve gala at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, featuring a performance from Decker.

The big reveal announcing the winner of the First Powerball Millionaire of the Year will air just after midnight on Jan. 1, 2020.

"We are delighted to have Jessie James Decker join us for this special New Year's celebration," Gregory Mineo, Powerball Product Group Chairman, said in a statement. "It is going to be an exhilarating countdown to 2020 for our Powerball VIP trip winners and viewers at home."

"There's someone out there who will become a millionaire overnight LIVE on New Year's Eve and I can't wait to celebrate with them," added Decker.

The announcement comes months after Decker and her husband Eric Decker moved into their "forever home" in Nashville earlier this year.

"We do not plan on moving anymore, we've moved a lot," she told PEOPLE. "We keep saying this is the forever home, and it's every dream we've ever had."

Decker, who's mother to Vivianne, 5, Eric Jr., 3, and Forrest, 1, also released her own version of Lil Nas X's smash hit "Old Town Road" in early June.

Oh that sounds like a great idea!

Just sent KY Lottery a private message to see if we're one of the 25 jurisdictions that will participate.  So far it is not on their promotions section.

Powerball=My favorite 102 story building, The Empire State Building.   Good luck everyone on $102 million Saturday!

Bleudog101, you got some competition , Powerball=my favorite 102 theme, add the numbers together and it comes to 3 , I have 3 Oak Trees , and they are very lucky and strong. See you in the winners circle.

Sounds like fun, I like second chance drawings and Raffles.

Now Sully16, are you near Buddy's Pizza?   They had sent me an invite for a party back in June...wish we went back to Detroit for that!   So good I'm salivating typing this.

KY lottery just answered my question and they will participate in the promotion!

Just want the secondary prize of $2 million (Powerplay).

The entire World could be watching this winner. Is that good or not?

According to Andy Warhol this winner will definitely get his fifteen minutes of fame.

When New York does something they celebrate. Will Yolanda Vega the NY Lottery spokesperson be there also? She is an excellent asset to the NY Lottery.

Speculating those winners will owe 24% federal taxes . . and eventually 37% if they win $1 million.

Another point missed was that Manhattan has its own tax on lottery winners.   Too bad it just couldn't somehow go to the state of residence for the one lucky winner...ain't gonna happen.

So we will enter old pb tickets?

KY lottery said their promotion starts 19 AUG 19.  I'm positive it will only be for PB tickets purchased from then on until the promotion ends whenever that is, probably sometime in September?   We'll see.   I think VA lottery was on FB with the promotion already, will look that up on FB.

Bleudog101

Virginia Lottery starts their promotion today.   Purchase $10 of PB and an entry form is produced.   Also works on-line as well as retailers.  Their promotion ends 30SEP 19.  Their drawing is in October...; this was according to their FB page.

Thanks Bleudog! I had checked the lottery website on the way home and saw no info. $10??? Pricey. Hopefully I can do it for repeat draws vs all for one draw.

Was in Colorado over July 4th their promotion was to buy a $20 Powerball ticket and then enter on the app.  I bought 2 $20 power ball tickets and I didn't win anything in the drawings or one of the 5 spots for the trip.

I have also entered for idaho's trip. For idaho you enter non winning Powerball tickets online then you earn tokens to play online games and points you earn in the game can be entered for different prizes including this trip to new york  :)

Goodluck everyone 🤞🏼

Paid actors that pose as winners? Orchestrated?

OK.

Prove it.

I'm with wander73 on this one

rebbuckeye,

I think what needs top be proved is that the "winners" aren't actors.

billybucks

why is this a big deal. people win a million every day on scratch tickets and every week on 2nd place prizes in powerball and mm. end up with 400+k after taxes if they take the cash. incredible life changing moment is an over statement by some hack country singer. more like a supplementary boost to someone's net worth.

Very true. While I would very much like to win a million, it isn't what it used to be, and there are million dollar winners if not every day, certainly every week.

At my age, it sets me up for retirement quite well.

Let me get this right, OK?   Do you live in Utah?   I know one time I bought some California tickets years ago, same with Massachusetts both for second prize drawings.   Both states notified me that since I'm not a resident, I cannot enter their contest.   Something tells me this is what happened with you in Colorado.

Now did Idaho honor your I presume out of state address in their lottery?

I always read the rules and nowhere did either Colorado or idaho  lottery state you must be residents to enter.  My account information has my utah information and I was able to enter no problem.     But yes I was quite disappointed when I wanted to enter 2nd chance drawing for California and it states you must be a resident.  Have also been unable to enter a couple drawings for Wyoming  lottery 2nd chance  giveaways  as the rules stated Wy residents only.

Meh... I'm just annoyed the tickets come with an attached voucher.  It should be a $5,000,000 or $10,000,000 drawing, who wants a measly Million? Jester

I bought $12 worth of pb tickets online (Virginia ) and never received my entry code for this promotion. Emailed the promotion contact listed and the doofus told me how to play the promotion...buy at least $10 pb tickets, etc. I really think they are outsourcing to another country. Sounded like a Comcast response.

So emailed the main email address early this morning, and did not get a reply yet. Another reason why I think VA lottery is overrated.

Now I'm wondering if this 'one lucky person' will just happen to have a SAG card.

You only have to spend $10 in Virginia and I spent $12 over the next 4 drawings...not all at once.
