Notorious jackpot winner races at diabolical speeds and endangers others

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky $167 million Powerball jackpot winner is back in the news again, this time for an indictment related to a felony hit-and-run he committed in a sports car from 2025.
After traveling at wicked speeds, colliding with another vehicle, and leaving the scene, police are saying the Powerball lottery millionaire was acting totally indifferent to human life.
Shannon James Farthing has had a colorful record crammed full of wanton criminal acts ever since his $167 million Powerball win in April 2025, including breaking parole, assaulting a bar patron, kicking an officer in the face, and possessing anabolic steroids. He was also charged with burglarizing his ex-girlfriend's home and stealing cash, although that charge was dropped after it was deemed a misunderstanding.
The latest on his record is an indictment on a felony wanton endangerment charge and a misdemeanor charge for allegedly leaving the scene of a car crash in November 2025.
On Nov. 23, 2025 at around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Man-O-War Boulevard and Crosby Drive in Lexington, Farthing rear-ended another moving vehicle. A search warrant cites him traveling between 103 and 117 mph in a Corvette about eight seconds before the crash.
He and the other passenger in the sports car allegedly left the vehicle and abandoned it on foot at the intersection of Rapid Run Drive and Niagara Drive. Officials say he violated the law by failing to stop at the scene of the collision and provide identifying information and proof of insurance.
The Lexington Police Department went on record to say that Farthing demonstrated "extreme indifference to the value of human life" and "created a substantial danger of death or injury to other motorists."
He was charged with Wanton Endangerment in the first degree and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance.
On May 11, the case was waived to a grand jury at a court hearing, the same hearing when charges against him for a second-degree burglary and second-degree possession of marijuana were dropped.
Court records show that the lottery winner's arraignment for the Nov. 23, 2025 hit-and-run case is scheduled for Aug. 7, 2026.

Next up: Shannon James Farthing sues General Motors / Chevrolet for making a car that can go very fast but cannot stop in time.
I guess he thought the cops weren't going to run the plates to see who owned the car.
for when thar be no words
KY is a no fault state. They do run ads for distracted driving (suedistracteddrivers.com)I believe is their handle.
He'll end up like many others we've read about on LP---Dead. Not a lick of common sense.
Well, we get to see in real time as to how a lottery winners life goes down the drain after winning. Usually you don't hear about it until it's all gone but look at all the past stories connected to this guy, we're getting the play by play here folks lol.
Let me see(am I'm being generous when I say this), I'll give this guy 5 years maybe 4 and he will be just another lotto story on how he wished he'd never won and the lottery ruined his life
Not a good area to be going 100+. The red balloon thingy is where they abandoned the car. The intersection of the crash is to the left and slightly above the balloon.

The accident was, "at the intersection of Man-O-War Boulevard.
Then they, "abandoned it on foot at the intersection of Rapid Run Drive"
I guess our winner is a Man of War and Rapidly Running into new drama all the time 🤔.
It's always said that money never changes people, all it does is magnify who they already are.
I hope they get the help they need before it's too late.
As a lottery player, it's my wish that lottery winners are not frowned upon as dead beat losers.
I believe for the most part, we are not.
Good luck to all on this National Lottery Day 🤞
LOL at you
I'd wager he be flat busted or dead from booze poisoning inside of 3 .75 years
the only Benz going in my dream garage
Just like David Edwards, E. KY and Jack Whitaker from WV...
him winning the lottery is the worst thing that happened to his local community. someone needs to find this guy's baby mamas and have them come out of the wood work to sue him for back support. or convince him to invest all his money is some dumb business. anything to separate him from his money as soon as possible.
I've little doubt thar are people out thar waiting with thar respective baited hooks
I'm pretty sure at 167 million none of that prize money came from me for that draw.
Sounds like he will be one of the richest guys in prison there if he can't buy his way out of it.
