A winning lottery ticket from the One Stop Shoppe on Corkery Lane landed a Monroe Township woman the claims to the Jersey Cash 5 Jackpot.

Joan O'Brien played the birthdates of her children for a year in the state's Jersey Cash 5 game and on Oct. 29 it paid off.

According to lottery Executive Director Virginia S. Bauer, O'Brien was the lone winner in the Oct. 29 drawing. Her prize was $166,152 --minus the 25 percent federal withholding tax. The winning numbers were: 01, 09, 20, 26 and 27.

Since its inception in 1992, Jersey Cash 5 has served as a "roll-down" game, meaning if there was no top winner the jackpot was divided into remaining prize pools. Jersey Cash 5 changed to a "roll over" game, where the jackpot grows and carries over to the next drawing if there is not a top winner.

In addition, Jersey Cash 5 players choose five numbers from a field of 40, instead of 38. The new changes went into effect Sept. 15.

Since then, there have been 23 jackpot winners and O'Brien is the first from Gloucester County to claim the prize.

Since Sept. 30, 1992, the Jersey Cash 5 has generated over $955 million in sales and produced revenues of $400 million to support state education and institutions.
