Miami Man Claims One-Third Share of $40 Million Florida Lotto Jackpot

The Florida Lottery announced today that Thomas Earley, 44, of Miami claimed the last one-third share of the $40 million Florida Lotto jackpot from the December 13, 2003 drawing.

The other two winners were from Pensacola and West Palm Beach.

Earley received his winning $7,612,503.22 by choosing the lump sum option.

He purchased his winning ticket at the Terminal Rexall Pharmacy, located on Concourse D at the Miami International Airport.  The store will receive one-third of a $10,000 retailer bonus for selling the winning Florida Lotto jackpot ticket.

The winning numbers for the December 13, 2003 drawing were: 01-04-08-12-45-48.

Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated approximately $27 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund for Florida's schools.  Since 1999, the Florida Lottery has transferred $3.7 billion to the Florida Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.  This brings the Lottery's commitment to education revenue transfers to more than $13 billion to date.

The Florida Lottery was created in 1986 for the purpose of enabling Floridians to benefit from significant additional funds for education.

Earley is the 131st Florida Lotto winner to purchase a winning ticket in Miami-Dade County.  He is the 741st Lotto winner since 1988.

The jackpot for the next Florida Lotto drawing, Saturday, January 24 is estimated at $3 million.
