Mega Millions players from around the world are waiting to hear the winning numbers tonight for the largest Mega Millions jackpot since December, 2003.
The current $121 million jackpot was reached after 11 consecutive jackpot "rollovers" -- drawings in which there was no jackpot winner, causing the jackpot to accumulate for the next drawing.
The addition of Texas as the eldventh Mega Millions state appears to have energized the Mega Millions jackpot rollover amounts.
In the last jackpot run-up, which started November 14, 2003 and ended with a $155 million jackpot win on December 30, 2003, the jackpot was $100 million after eleven rollovers -- $21 million less than the current jackpot run-up.
The Mega Millions drawing occurs tonight at 11:00 PM Eastern Time. Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday night.
