Because our Constitution was designed so that the center of our government was not part of one of the states being represented. Balance of power, and all that stuff. None of the states wanted one state to house the Federal government.

We tend to trust what the government too much. Take things for granted. In this case the government has handed over the management and trust of our had earned dollars to a chosen few without oversight as you say. It was always strange to me why thiese drawings are not in a open.....with sunshine on it.....format. In Michigan that system is very complicated and closed off and it makes you wonder.

AIG and other big insurance companies issue annuities and you think the money is safer as an annuity that's been issued from a State or Federal Government entity? If you win, and pay the initial tax on the winnings and then turn it into cash in a safe, no you will not be taxed on it the following year(after the year you have won)....if you do not work for the entire year and still have 1 million dollars sitting in your safe, your earned income will be zero....No taxes paid to any government agency and no tax refund back to you....(the Government is betting that you can't do that and still have 1 million in your safe).

There was a story yesterday that the government, in its never ending brilliance, screwed up and was sending the money to the wrong accounts, whether that is actually their fault or the fault of the people who messed up their account info, I'm not sure. But I'd bet more on it being a government screw up.
