Therefore, betting on more numbers or syndicates increases your chances, but also costs more. Playing in a syndicate increases your odds of winning but does NOT cost more. Back in March of this year, the Powerball jackpot was $527 million while the Mega Millions jackpot was only $29 million. The Powerball jackpot was over 18 times larger than Mega Millions. Sales for Mega Millions were not zero. In fact, they were large enough for the jackpot to increase to $43 million in the next draw. The point is, regardless of the ticket price or jackpot size, players like buying tickets for both games.
