Well, we're making ready to add some updates to our Powerball Mega Millions historical data pages. Possibly tonight or tomorrow we'll update our server. Just some added info and clean up the data values and presentation a bit. Also, we're working on reverse fitting some NA values, hopefully, by time we post. It's a unique curve fit involving the hyperbolic curve formed by the intersection of two nonparallel lines... it's complicated and nerdy.

The Powerball jackpot increased by $30.3 million to $775 million after 37 rolls. Last time around PB's advertised increase in this range was $65 million, from 750 to 815 (later boosted to 850, for an increase of $100 million). There's a chance this one will also get a boost tomorrow, but no way the boost gets it to 840ish. Some of that difference is due to the interest rate. I may be the only one on this site that likes the Mega Millions game . I'm pretty sure I like it too. I just haven't started playing it yet. Since the first time they broke the $1 billion mark, PB has offered 3 jackpots advertised at more than $1.7 billion, all in the last 3 years. With slower growth I don't expect MM to manage similar results in only 3 years, but the same basic probability as BP at $5 per ticket should theoretically give us 3 jackpots about twice that size. I am going with the prediction of no rollover for the drawing tonight. Why? Because of the one MM ticket that I got for my birthday...! What could possibly go wrong with that other than the multiplier was a 2X that does not count toward the jackpot...? Just curious, is anyone going to bother with Mega Millions tonight? I can't help but feel like they have Bud Lighted themselves and alienated their core base of players in an attempt to appeal to others. Under the prior ticket pricing structure I would have purchased my usual 1 ticket per drawing. How about the scenario where Powerball is won on Wednesday and the Mega rolls to Friday, are folks going to focus on it or just continue to ignore it? No tickets for me under any circ

I totally agree that it's people who make things a headache. If I were to win something like Powerball, the majority would go into laddered treasury bills, with some in an S P 500 index fund. The last thing I would do is start my own business or invest in any sort of risky business venture. People go broke because they think this sudden windfall of money has given them some sort of insight on how to invest, start or run a business. Lottery sales for the big national games are down. This is probably the main reason the Mega Millions game was recently changed. Even on my worst days I'm not nearly stupid enough to think they wouldn't have tried messing with the game even if sales were still what they were 3 to 5 years ago, but the change was definitely an attempt to increase sales.
