What are the odds?
Sounds like after he won the two and a half million, he bought thousands of tickets for the same game. I don't know much about Poker, but it appears that the poker player with the most chips is most likely to win the pot.

Has anyone quit their day job to play numbers?
Professional poker players have to travel around a lot so it may not be conducive to holding a 9-5 job. I think they are often self employed beyond the poker playing.

MTV True Life: I'm A New Millionaire
So I just finished the eposide, they both are smart... in their own way. By the poker guy investing in another poker player that was a good move. By the 18yr old going back to school and buying a multi family in a few years (and not right away) is an intelligent decision. It would be interesting if MTV would do a follow up in 10yrs to see where they are. I think we'll see them huge in a few years, both of them.

Michigan Poker lotto
Saw advertising for poker lotto coming next month. It is a terminal game that is easy pick only. For $2 you get 5 easy-picked cards and can win up to $5000 instantly with your poker hand. The other part is they draw 5 cards every night and you can win by matching 3,4, or 5 of your cards to the nightly draw. Match 5 @ about 2,600,000 odds gets $100,000 (versus Michigan nightly 10/22/80 Keno were you can pick your own numbers, it only cost $1 and the odds are about 2,600,00

CNBC writer looking for lottery players
I do play poker on occasion and have been on poker sites. Definitely nothing odd with that. Keep going overboard on your lottery investments if that makes you feel good. Years from now when you are close to retirement and still renting an apartment you'll question if pouring over a thousand dollars each month into the lottery was a smart investment.

CNBC writer looking for lottery players
Perhaps you should try a running forum even though you are not a runner. Or perhaps a poker forum even though you don't play poker. Nothing odd about that either.

Multi-State Play
A few years ago most of the pick 3 systems on LP were based on collecting $900 to $1 playing online. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I could still play poker online even though I knew the lottery site couldn't be funneling money as easily as the poker sites. The cops don't usually go after small time bookies and you can't call them when you don't get paid.

Betslips Not Selling Pick3 and Pick4 anymore?
The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 prevents US banks from processing transactions for the purpose of internet gambling on foreign sites. If you don't believe it, just ask any of the Full Tilt poker players about the over $300 million they had in their online poker accounts.
