It depends on your state. You could email them and ask what to do in that situation. Tickets for draw games are time stamped pretty precisely, so I don't see how you'd get away with claiming one you didn't purchase. Scratchers are iffy because they're not timestamped, but they are serial numbered. I'll ask my tax man about that. I know folks that have won @ the casino, got taxed the hell out of and they refused to be double taxed by reporting their winnings. That's my favorite scratch off! I was hoping that I could win the jackpot from it As far as I know, Michigan is the only state that redacts the ticket number. It's not like someone will be able to copy it and forge a winner.
