$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
I was just thinking what are some of your eccentricities as it pertains to lotto like pb and mm?
Assuming you get quicpick do you not know your numbers until the time of the drawing .... so that you will be surprised?
Do you eat liverwurst or oliveloaf sandwiches prior to purchasing tickets?
Do you drink birch beer, moxie, creme soda or sasparilla with the aforementioned sandwich choices ?
Do you wear sandals at the time of ticket purchase? Even in subzero weather?
Do you cal

Mississippi Lottery halts Cash 3 triple payout promotion one week in
Those funds were apparently only enough for six days and not for the entire month of November they advertised.
And? They expected to pay out some amount, but players won that amount in about 1/4 of the time the lottery expected.
They ended up paying out 97% of all the wagers that month. Don't recall the KY Lottery saying because of an overwhelming player response they would stop sales of triples.
And? Triples account for 1% of the possible results and get drawn 1% of the time as a l

$1.8 billion Powerball jackpot to be split by two tickets sold in Missouri and Texas
Right now the $164.5 million cash value of MM is 45.95% of the $358 million annuity. With the annuity at 35.8% of 1 billion the cash value at the same interest rate has to be $164.5 / .358 for a $1 billion annuity. That's $459.5 million.
Flipping it around, it will take a hair under 2.8 times as much money for 1 billion as for 358 million. Total sales through Saturday are forecast to be $609,162,600 and 121,832,520 tickets. 2.8 time that is 340,314,302 tickets (and total revenue of just over

Powerball winner possibly unaware of $1 million fortune
By Kate Northrop
Someone in Texas purchased a Powerball ticket earlier this year and won the $1 million second-tier prize, but no one has come forward to claim it.
The owner of a winning $1 million Powerball ticket has to come forward to claim it within the next three weeks or risk losing it entirely.
Last week, the Texas Lottery published an announcement warning players about the approaching Aug. 1 deadline. However, the cl

Siblings come forward to claim prize in retired game three days before it expired
By Kate Northrop
A brother and sister from North Carolina claimed a $25,000 a year for life prize in the retired Lucky for Life multi-state lottery game with just three days left on the clock.
Had they waited just three more days, a brother-sister duo would not have been able to claim a $25,000 a year for life Lucky for Life lottery prize.
The Lucky for Life multi-state game may have been replaced b

As if winning part of a $733,968 jackpot in the Fantasy 5 draw game wasn't cool enough, one Michigan man won the $1 million top prize in the Michigan Lottery's Millionaire Raffle just over a year later.
Luck hasn't stopped flowing for one Michigan lottery player, who has now won the highest-tier prizes in two of the games Michigan Lottery has to offer.
The 47-year-old Michigan resident opted to remain anonymous w

An Ohio man just had the luckiest day of his life when he won a top-tier prize in one lottery game and then $300,000 in another.

I'm thinking Williams knew he won and went to the store to verify it and the jackpot amount, but the uncle told him he won a smaller prize and gave Williams the money out of the cash register then kept the ticket and wouldn't return it. So then

$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
One thing I truly miss is bump up to the jackpot like in the good old days. Gone for good I'd say.
Considering that they've done it 4 times in the last 4 months it hardly seems like it no longer happens. Changing to 3 drawings per week has a minor effect, but the real issue is that lottery sales per drawing are generally slower than they used to be. Even so, the current PB run is a rare exception (as of now) for not bumping some of the jackpots for runs that made it past the billion dollar

$1.1 BILLION: Powerball jackpot increased in longest-ever winless streak
Yeah but the ticket isn't really yours until 1. You sign it 2. You present it to a lottery official right ?
The ticket is yours the moment you buy it. What it isn't is an financial instrument worth millions. Even after the drawings it's not worth anymore than you paid for it. The ticket only becomes valuable when the lottery validates it and says it's worth the prize it won. As a practical matter it becomes valuable as soon as you submit the claim, but the money isn't yours until the ticket
