I think younger folks should take the annuity, even though you don't mention 20 years of tax liability. It is not always the best option. Decades ago I'd say Cash option when we had to do that @ time of purchase. Not the case @ my age. No way would I take an annuity.

Once again, they've been fortunate enough that when interest rates changed sales magically increased exactly enough for the advertised annuity to remain the same. Assuming that current cash value is realistic the annuity would have been bumped to about 991.5 if the interest rate hadn't changed. If it rolls (about an 82% chance) it goes to $1.1 billion and $525 million cash.

This is (usually) because of fluctuations in the interest rates etc when they calculate the annuity payout. For example, The current cash ratio is ~40% of jackpot. Back in the COVID period (2021-22) it hit 83%.. because interest rates were at an all-time low, so the annuity wasn't worth as much...
