The ruling, a significant victory for online poker in the US, was made in a November 2021 lawsuit filed by International Game Technology (IGT) against the DOJ in

Nevada Legislature hears bill that would create state lottery
Rhode Island Lottery runs much of the Twin River action (the slot and poker machines definitely, I'm not sure about the sportsbook) The law that created the Massachusetts casinos require the locations to sell lottery tickets, but they don't have to do much more (As far as I know Encore has no Keno monitors. and they only dispense tickets at self-service machines near the entrance. They do cash winners (only up to $599) at the cashiers.)

IGT prevails in DOJ lawsuit; Wire Act only applies to sports betting
Could get interesting if players in one state could play Online in another state from outside state lines. Never could figure the logic of legally betting on horse racing on tracks all over the U.S. and the World but can't play Internet poker. Don't expect to see one state lottery cashing tickets purchased in another state regardless of how the DOJ decides.

IGT prevails in DOJ lawsuit; Wire Act only applies to sports betting
So we basically get confirmation for we already know. The Court declares that, as to the parties now before it, the Wire Act applies only to 'bets or wagers on any sporting event or contest.' the Wire Act applies narrowly to sports betting and does not apply to poker, lottery or other forms of online gambling . It is still completely legal to play the lottery across state lines online and offline.

Kelly T. Gee appointed Executive Director of Virginia Lottery
WVA started with video poker, keno and a few other video type games, but no traditional coin slot machines. They didn't have as much hypocrisy as the they did in other states. The river boats that went nowhere actually issued boarding passes and the Missouri boats had chip buying limits. Went to Red Mile a couple times and they have the same type of machines as regular casinos. Some still have a reference to historical horse races, but has nothing to do with game play. The minimum starts at

Lotteries present a low risk to gambling harm. By Kate Northrop Australians may soon not have the ability to use credit cards for online betting, except for lottery purchases. Americans gamble over half a trillion dollars illegally each year, AGA Report says
The reason the states went to riverboars was that at the time they thought any outside of Nevada casinos 9with some exceptions, such as places that already had gambling, (such as poker rooms in Montana ) they had to be on the water. In Vegas we heard a lot about casinos in Sault St Marie, MI pre-riverboats but who knows?) In Illinois at first the 'entrance fee' was $5 or $10 on weekedays and $15 on weekends. To those of us who went to the boats from Las Vegas , Reno, and other NV casinos not

Despite sales influx from $2B Powerball, Massachusetts Lottery ticket sales falter
Some states, like Michigan, just have too many stupid games to play! All the money that people squander on the drunken bar keno (club Keno) does not go into any jackpot game. Michigans Daily Keno went to RNG in 2002 and there have been more draws with fewer winners on that game. Michigan also has a stupid game called Poker Lotto which has comparable odds to the daily keno but the prize is $100,000 vs $250,000 for the daily keno and the PL ticket price is $2 vs $1 for the DK. Don't get m
