Lottery ticket sold in Illinois wins $560 million Mega Millions jackpot

After a run of 19 drawings without a jackpot winner, the 20th drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions lottery game produced a single $560 million winner last night when one ticket sold in Illinois matched all five numbers plus the Mega Ball.
The winner will now have to choose between being paid $560 million in 30 annually-increasing payments over 29 years or the lump-sum estimated cash value of $264 million.

A Kentucky family is celebrating after two members won huge lottery prizes just three months apart.
The Fannin family of Hazard, Kentucky, collectively won more than $200,000 in prizes from the Kentucky Lottery after daughter Starla and father William each had a stroke of luck.
Hazard, Kentucky is a small city located in eastern Kentucky.

$1.3 billion Mega Millions lottery winner's family sues him for not sharing jackpot
I don't know about the family not having a claim. They are in Maine which honors a verbal agreement. An example would be Marie Holmes who won Powerball a few years ago. She promised to tithe $1.5M to her church and the Pastor evidently invested the money he had yet to receive into building an addition to their church. When she backed out, he sued her for $10M for emotional duress and won.
