Some lottery winners missing their jackpots
I recently read everyone who plays should save all there losing tickets. When you do your annual taxes, those losing tickets can be used to offset taxes applied to large winning tickets. So not only do I save my losing tickets, I occasionally double check my losers. I check them on the state website and the retailers barcode machines. So if I overlook a winner, I may find it when I double check them. So far I have found a couple one dollar winners. I never give my tickets to a retail store clerk

Connecticut lottery machines offline for hours
Actually you got two different answers, one of which gets two votes. When the time comes you'll check with somebody who does this for a living, right? Only a moron would rely on free advice from the internet for anything that matters. I happen to live very nearly the same distance from Connecticut as I do from Pennsylvania, so if I was going to drive to buy PB tickets I'd go to Pennsylvania since they don't tax PA lottery winnings. I might have to file return in PA anyway if I won, but by not

Illinois lottery players crossing border to play in other states
as for the taxes you think you will save...I think the taxes are still paid in the state in which you own or rent not where you buy the tickets. I could be wrong but don't think so.

Florida Lottery terminates contracts of three retailers
Most states know crooks are cashing lottery tickets to laundry drug money or help some players avoid taxes and child support but unless they can save more money than it cost to correct the problem it doesn't make economic sense to do anything about it.

Lottery bill could limit winner's take
it's one of many ways to get off the system So how many people on welfare have gotten off of welfare by playing the lottery? And how much did people on welfare have to spend in order to do that? That's the important part, which you must not understand. Having a handfull of people on welfare save taxpayers a few million dollars doesn't actualy help the taxpayers if they spent more than twice as much of our tax dollars as they save us by no longer collecting welfare. Make no mistake, that's h

After alleged lottery ticket theft, store banned from ticket sales
That might work fine for your group, but everyone in that pool were machinists, electricians and maintenance repairmen who were working a lot of overtime and some of their tax brackets could have been nearer $30% so no one wanted to take a chance if they had a good year. Besides, regular taxpayers have to combine their lottery loses with their overall loses due to interest on debt and other expenses associated with their work and exceed the standard $4500 allowance everyone gets regardless be

Ohio man wins lottery, beaten and robbed at local bar
what once did exist no longer exists. there wouldn't be enough business for these alleged crime factions to bother to continue running a numbers racket. no taxes sure but anyone can avoid those by playing smaller denomination tickets (.25) will not get you a tax ticket on a 3 digit number. and who is going to bother going to the shoe repair shop to play a number that will pay more than the 600.00 with a mobster type. at least with the state they know they will get paid. hard to believe the nj lo

Ct. man claims he lost $254M Powerball ticket
In my case, I buy tickets just about every day and am normally very well organized. It happened. Oh, well. My mess up. If you do save your losing tickets, you may need more than just the losing tickets to offset taxes. Anyone can collect losing tickets from friends, co- workers etc. You need to keep a detailed record of what you spent, when you spent it, where you spent it, and having receipts would better yet. The I.R.S. wants receipts for every thing else, why would gambling loses be any di
