where are the mayans and Aztecs if we speak of unrecognized cultures. think though where does knowledge spring forth from, and what is the use of knowledge if it can not be applied. zero is a very interesting number but is it a true number of the space in time which is the instant (manifestation) no answer here just something I have been pondering over myself. Two reasons. Often I find myself saying 9(letter O) 2: instead of 9 zero 2. now I am focusing on zero. my mind must be c

Benford's Law
Hi Friends, While researching unrelated scientific subject matter I came across an article on Benford's Law. I decided that LP should/could benefit. I see that Win D already brought this up on November 25, 2004. Of particular interest is how it can be used to determine whether a lottery is being run fairly or not. You could probably sue the state lottery if Benford's Law proves that they are cheating.http://www.abc.net.au/science/k2/moments/s116315.htm Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Today I learned
It was a weird feeling for sure. Whatever it was. There was a weird feeling we all had to be honest when we got to the bridge in the first place. My cousin mentioned it and the rest just kind of agreed. Young? LOL. I wish. I was 22 at the time. But yes, other than a few years in the town down the mountain, which should have never happened, been here for 46 years in August. I've got a 2 football field size yard right outside my door and another football size one to the left. Takes me 5 minutes

What Does It Take To Win (Mathematically Speaking?)
RJOH - The public motive behind government involvement in lotteries isn't out of step with the motives behind the people who exploit the fact it exists as an institution to make money from it indirectly. Government lottery operations are there to persuade the population to voluntarily contribute money to ultimately be spent by governments on government priorities. In order to do that the lottery administrations have to maintain enough of a level of security in their methods and operations to pro

Backtesting and Simulating Lottery Systems
RL, RJOH, You two are telling the story of Christmas, 1987. Our oldest son, Jeremy, wanted to take a spring course on computer basics, which was just beginning to be taught in high school. So we decided to get him a Tandy 256 with a 5 1/4, 360K, floppy drive. When I saw the guy demonstrating it, and heard the assurance that Tandy was not going out of business because it had Radio Shack's backing. I decided I had to have one to see what this monster was all about. Wrote my first program

Statistics around the balance of even/odd and small/big numbers
Unveiling of the Digit System! I just found the perfect publication for the release of the results of the groundbreaking research in number theory being discussed here. Although it would be nice to become famous posing with a Missouri Lottery Winner's check, when and if that might occur is hard to foresee. However, The Missouri Journal of Mathematical Sciences is published 3 times a year, and with some effort, it might be possible to prepare a paper for peer review in time for the Spring issu
