What is the latest you can buy PB & MM tickets near you?
Just curious - do you drive to VA just to buy tickets or do you have other business there? I find this very interesting. We've had polls asking how far someone will travel to play, and a number of people will travel out of state. So one would need to include transportation costs into his/her budget. Unless someone lives right by an interstate, an hour's drive is around 50-60 miles. (or, depending on traffic, here in SW Fla it could be up the road to get milk. LOL) So even with good gas mile

I predict Powerball will roll
Good prediction, Todd! And, personally, good to see PB jackpot getting bigger. In my case, the only problem is how to allocate my lottery budget among so many good-looking jackpots. MM, PB, FL, EM, and still more...

Mega Millions Challange for 6/28
vbmx, I know you must be hitting yourself in the head right now. I mean if you had played set #5 the Jackpot would not have gone up. I don't know what you are doing but it must be on the right track. I say if you can do it once, you can do it again. I don't know if you are like me in that you come up with a set of numbers and then you don't trust yourself and end up not playing them. But I am learning fast that you should trust yourself. Don't get stupid with your money but still be as agressive

The Pigskin Challenge: 3-9-'05
RJOH:Thank you so much for the statistical info. It further validates the performance values I am now using to qualify my final number selections. I have used those figures going back to January 2004, but it produced too many final numbers for my budget.I went back and identified my pool numbers according to your info. It increased the final number of 8 to 13 numbers, AND, it produced three (3) numbers to go with the Power Ball # 31!!!!!!!!!!This just might be the answer I have been serar

Probability of a rollover in PB and MM
Since Powerball's base $5.6 million cash jackpot falls on a Wednesday instead of a busier Saturday, I estimate the sales to be less than 11 million tickets. Looking at the Wednesday, February 11 data, sales for the $7.2 million cash jackpot was only $10,765,848, which was 13% less than the sales for the previous Saturday's base jackpot. But as prob987 implied before, the IMprobability percentages don't change significantly, e.g., P(0) = 91.3% and P(1) = 8.3%.Has anybody bothered to calculate h

Mega Millions...12/31/2002
Yep, got the looser syndrome, P.M.J.L.L.S. No partying this year at all for me, as this back to school kid is on a budget. Happy New Year Jackpot Gamers. I am putting the finishing touches on my latest code for the Maryland 6/49. I can load as much historical data and test it to find, which 4 of 6 combo has hit most often from the winning numbers. Each winning combo has a possible of 15, 4 of 6, combinations. Alot of counting and error checking in this one, but I think it is good. I'll give it a

Powerball winner from Indiana for 9/14
From the Powerbal Rules:If a prize is not claimed, then each lottery will treat that money in accordance with their state law or rules. Some lotteries are required to return the money to the players as prizes (you may have seen such things as a special second-chance drawing, etc.). Other lotteries can return the unclaimed prize money to the state's general fund. The claim period is set by each state lottery. It varies from 90 days to one year.It reverts back to the Indiana Lottery Rules, which a

Would They Pay It? Can They Pay It?
In my last post I was thinking in terms of someone playing a 'lot' of money on the MM and PB every draw. Here's an example ... let's say someone has decided to spend $60 on every MM or PB drawing ... they can't afford to play both games for $120. So buying 20 tickets for every draw at $3 (with the extra dollar) will cost $60 or $540 a month total. I was just thinking in that situation with a budget of $500 a month for only one game ... the MM game might be the better game to play with the

Ok, this is getting
I just started playing LDL in Feb Before that it never appealed to me but the fact there seems to be more winners and somewhat better odds (Still extremly unlikley you will ever win anything) made me start buying I do one line for 14 draws (Both day/evening draws). So $14 a week and I usually win back a few bucks so its not total loss I am thinking of cutting back on Instant tickets and playing two lines of LDL for a while to see how it goes. $28 is a bit steep for 2 lines in 14 draws b
