How are payments invested?Reply
For some people, taking annual payments makes sense. For others it doesn't. You can usually make more money over the 20 or 30 years by investing wisely. That said, it's comforting to know you'll be getting another check soon no matter how badly you mess up that year. People are always concerned about the payments stopping. I would have the same concern, but AFAIK no state lottery has ever folded. If I'm wrong, then I'd appreciate a comment from someone who has this knowledge. Regarding govern

You are correct that the jackpot was $45 million on March 6, 2002, the last time it was this big. The interesting thing is if you look at the run-up to the $45 million jackpot. The previous jackpot was $35 million, and the jackpot before that was $27 million. Obviously, a lot of people were playing in order to make it jump like that.This time, the jackpot is jumping in increments of about $2 million per drawing (last drawing was $43 million), meaning that a lot fewer people are playing now.

Wow... you're a real nice person. If you would have read the rules on the txlottery.org site instead of posting your own thread in the wrong Forum in the first place maybe I would have seen it... As I said before: Just the Jackpot is $2.00 cost which is the only thing that I GOT WRONG . For 2 lines and you win only if you get all 5 plus megamall. Megaplier is not offered for the Just the Jackpot. (Section A, Line 4) (Subsection I, Just the Jackpot) CORRECTION IS $3.00

1/13 drawing had 80% of the numbers covered. With RNGs I think someone could be manipulating the drawings. However, with MM and PB, you watch the balls bounce live. Not to say that someone couldn't tamper with the balls. However, those drawings are heavily monitored. The US Government wins every lottery jackpot.

Well it seems the biggest concerns for taking the annuity is 1, higher tax bracket and 2, government defaulting on the payments. 1. it's free money plan around what you can save. 2. if the government stops paying lottery winnings when we are the ones that fund it, there are much bigger problems. I agree. National debt is over $19,000,000,000,000. Unsustainable, when things come crashing down does anyone really think the money will be there for annuity payments? The government will snatch-up that money so quick it'll make your head spin.

It's no way I will take a annuity, I would found two or three special banks that can handle that amount of money. I would not truth the lottery/government with my money every year.

I did crappy, like usual. I only played on here- did not go out to buy tickets. Glad I didn't! Saved myself some money instead of giving it to the government!
