Mega Millions Ticket Worth $50 Million Sold in Kansas City
Those who win under $100 Million Annuity are essentially anonymous given no one cares about them. The days when any lottery winner would be famous are gone, if you win a small amount no one would even notice unless they know you personally.

South Carolina's billion dollar mega millions ticket
Secrecy allows corruption to thrive. That's true, but outside of the movies there aren't a lot of conspiracies that involve lots of people and still stay secret. IMHO the lottery should check on winners exactly the same way whether they're allowed to remain anonymous or not, with the only difference being what information is released to the public. Being anonymous, whether specifically allowed or an option by claiming as a trust, certainly shouldn't permit somebody to claim without the lott

South Carolina's billion dollar mega millions ticket
You are misunderstanding the nuance of the article as to why is this even an issue? It means why don't all states have an anonymous option with all the privacy concerns. The fact is they do not have this uniform option. So winners are news.

South Carolina's billion dollar mega millions ticket
The anonymous winner will still be reported as claiming the jackpot and there will be news articles. It is still news people are waiting to hear. Not sure I understand how this is old news. Lol

Do you think that it will be possible for the PB Jackpot Winner to ...
At this point, I highly doubt that there will be one winning ticket to this jackpot. However, hypothetically, I think it would be unlikely that they would be able to remain anonymous.

Why do people get so emotional and would you tell anyone on big jackpots?
It does kinda piss me off that some people will only play when the jackpot gets high. I'm a regular player. So, I'm constantly contributing to those large jackpots. As far as telling anyone, I try to buy my tickets in anonymous states. If it goes to a Billion, and there's a sole winner, I don't think they have a choice on whether to be made known to the public.

What do would you do if you won the lottery?
I would be so scared of publicity if i won a big Jackpot. I believe it would be a double edge sword. Is there any way of someone winning a big jackpot and remaining anonymous?

MM in PA
Why go to New Jersey and not Delaware where you can remain anonymous? Granted Delaware doesn't have many big winners but we've had a few lol. :P

MM in PA
PA does have both MM and PB. PA joined MM in February. PB has been here a while. No anonymous claims. They don't require a press conference. If you claim through a trust, the beneficiaries of the trust are named. You don't pay state tax on the winnings if you are a PA resident. Nearby Md, De and Oh allow for anonymous claims. Md requires non residents to pay 7.5% state income tax; residents pay 9.5% state income tax. I think OH requires state and local tax to be paid even for n

If you win the jackpot, do you go to tv and news?
Does California allow you to claim anonymously? And how does that work exactly? Unless you do the trust thing the people at the office will know who you are. If I were to ever win a jackpot I'll stay as anonymous as long as possible.
