Reading scratch-off tickets - codes / barcodes
Hi All,
I play the lottery regularly, but tend to gravitate towards scratch-offs more than other games. I usually check prizes using the lottery codes (for example TEN, TWY, TRY are codes for Virginia scratch-offs), or using the state's lottery app if they don't use codes. But sometimes while playing, in states where hidden codes are NOT on the scratch-offs, I sometimes notice guys examining the barcodes (or something) on the scratch-off, and this is even before they actually scratch the tick

NY Scratch-off Letter Codes
Does anyone have a list of what the letter codes on the NY Lottery scratch offs all stand for? I know that F, O, R is four and T, W, O is two, but I'm wondering what the codes are for the higher prizes. Any help would be great! Thanks!

These are three letters placed somewhere in the scratch area. Not all states have them. I think most people here are talking about the Florida Lottery scratch tickets. In Florida, winners under $600 have meaningful codes (HUN=$100,TEN=$10,FHN=$500,ONE=$1,etc). Non-winning codes such as NEW or NVW are on non-winning tickets under $600 (however, winners over $600 have non-winning codes)...

Completely agree dr. Anytime I have 10 20 there is a 30. It's the same in fl. If my # hasn't app reared by the 6th # out of the top 10 I already know it's likely a loser. If you ever see a letter in the bottom play field you know instantly if you won like Vcw hrf new eyf and I'm sure there's a few losing codes I'm forgetting. The winning codes in fl that I get are 1 one 2 two 3 thr 5 fiv 10 ten 15 ftn 20 twy 25 Tfv 30 thy 40 fry 50 fty 100 Hun 500 fhn. I play the play field first always and scra

Scratcher Help
Not every state uses those 3 letter codes.Iowa used to use them but people would buy those scratch off tickets that took forever to play, like Bingo Crosswords, and just scratch the codes off of them.Since they didn't know the code for the big winners, like $25,000,they just threw the ticket away.Enough prizes went unclaimed that Iowa quit using the codes.Other states have done the same thing.
