Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
$50 for a scratcher? As W. C. Fields has said You can fool some of the people some of the time -- and that's enough to make a decent living. It seems like Mega Millions listened to W. C. Fields very carefully, but lots of us know that now... Best wishes for a $2 Powerball win.

The probability of winning the jackpot on a $50 scratcher is far higher. If you bought 25 Powerball tickets, you would have a 1 in 12 million chance of winning the jackpot (or 10 Megamillions tickets, even worse at 1 in 30 million). For the same $50, the Arizona $50 scratcher has a 1 in 900,000 chance of winning the jackpot (and overall prize payout is much higher, at 83% instead of 50%). I'm okay with winning $5 million, and apparently lots of other people are as well, given the increas

i think out of spite, we'll play more Powerball, self picked numbers, with the multiplier. at least when we get a high multiplier, it's applied to all lines of play. we don't sit there like a wage slave hoping they throw us a bone on one line with a x10. and, last we checked, 10 times nothing is still nothing.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
I may have jinxed our pool by boasting we had won money in the previous 4 draws. We did not win anything in yesterday's draw. We are planning to buy tickets for tomorrow's Powerball draw. Good luck to everyone.

Our pool won $8 in the Powerball draw yesterday. So far we have won in every draw in this run. Four draws in a row. We are buying more tickets for tomorrow's draw. Good luck to everyone.

Covering Designs - MM and PB
You've hit precisely on the core mathematical tension that separates academic covering designs from practical play. When you scale up to a massive matrix like Powerball ( $69 \choose 5$ ) or Mega Millions ( $70 \choose 5$ ), the covering numbers ( $C(v, k, t, m)$ ) explode. The combinatorial explosion outpaces the lower-tier prize payouts so severely that you are essentially paying premium rates for guaranteed micro-returns, even before factoring in the independent $1/26$ or $1/25$ Powerball mod
