I personally think that some of the people here on the forum are grasping at straws, cps10. I understand that having the inception of a state's lottery placed into excel can take a while (multiply that by 53 states--and whoa) Just for the record, I never thought that you were promoting a business (maybe, I'm naive) Thanks anyways. And if you send me the template, I will definitely send you MI. It's something that I already have in excel (just maybe not in the format that you would like) Good L

can pre-existing software like excel do what you need? don't forget that excel contains it's own programming language (VBA, Visual Basic for Applications) and there are THOUSANDS of free tutorial sites and downloadable examples to get you going.try picking up programming as you go... when dealing with lottery systems programming, the journey(acquiring new skills, working the right side of the brain) is almost always more enjoyable than the destination (a failed test or debunked system)

My software works on MS Access tables. (and connection to SQL-server, but i doubt anyone around here has that...)The problem with access is, it rapidly grows very big, becoming pretty slow.As long as you keep the data ordered there will no problem when you decide to transfer the data between excel and access..Excel has better (faster) calculationfunctions, but access is what it is, a relational database...

I pulled data from PA's site one year at a time, then simply pasted it into excel, sorted by date ascending, cleaned up the formatting, and it was ready for export/ save as to any type of file (including CSV, for database import)17 years (at the time) in under 10 minutes ;-)I am still updating the entire list to date, I am wondering if MS access might be a better choice... or at least maintain an access DB along with the excel sheets...

I am a standard member for now. Thanks, and no rush, one nice thing about excel is that catching up is easy... I created the excel sheet I am using for v-tracks in under 10 minutes, that includes entering the data from the past draws of PA's website.

I think you should try using the Database Functions....DMAX, DCOUNT, DAVERAGE.I have an Excel workbook that uses them to display the total hits, largest skip (max out), averages and other info for each pair by position (front,back, and split).
