Spanish village loses out on El Gordo lottery winnings as a result of ticket blunder
Annual Christmas drawing doles out 2.7 billion
By Kate Northrop
Spain's famous annual El Gordo, which translates to The Fat One, has expectedly spurred celebration across the nation with its 2.7 billion (US$2.8 billion) prize payout, but a ticket slip up has left some villagers in a small town shorthanded.
Townsfolk in Villamanin, a village of fewer than 1,000 residents, won 35 million in the 2.7 billion El Gordo lottery draw but lost 4 million of that prize money due to a ticket blu

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
MM was unlucky in that, for their highest jackpot annuity win of $980 million, there was an 8% chance someone would win (based on number of tickets sold since the previous drawing), and someone did win.
The same thing happened in the two previous jackpot wins since the rule change, and MM was even more unlucky in that they sold fewer tickets and someone won it.
With slow ticket sales and outrageous odds of winning, on average the number of rollovers will be much higher.

$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
You're both too old to be passing on any drawing
I'd agree if I was stupid enough to have no clue about the odds, or math in general.
In fact it would be much easier to deal with.
I'd agree if I was stupid enough to think that writing an extra zero every now and then was a burden.

Not necessarily. I'll use doubles as an example. Going back to Oct 2024. On the 28th Eve a dbl hit. 13 days later Nov 11 the next dbl hit. 9 days after that Nov 21 a dbl hit again. Fast forward 15 days to Dec 7 was the next dbl. 8 days later Dec 16 a dbl hit, 5 days later Dec 22 a dbl hit. Dbl hit again the next day and then they got on a roll. The next 10+ skip didn't start till Feb 8.
I remember the ball drawing days where if a digit was out awhile and finally hit, sometimes it would not

Lottery Numbers Aren't Meant To Be Random
The reason they run test drawings on lottery balls before each drawing is to avoid a repeat of this.

Answer Me This...
We Florida player did just that! I kind of didn't because I didn't get my panties all in a bunch over the addition of the Monday night drawing. I play PB differently than most players and I don't play regularly. And I couldn't care less what the current jackpot is.
That's because I'm trying to win a second place prize. My ticket costs me 15 bucks because I play 5 identical lines of the white balls, and use a different PB number on each line. I add The PowerPlay too. That's an expensive way

Florida's Fantasy 5
Right... FF5 is the best bet among Fla online games. That's why I play it.
When the lottery added the midday drawing ticket sales immediately went way down. That can be attributed to just one thing - player reaction by voting with their dollars and walking away from the game. Added to that that, these days, people are feeling the effects of higher prices on many things (inflation) and probably have cut back on lottery spending as a result.
IMHO even if inflation is coming down, and pla
