quick pick or your own numbers
Your stats are correct because a greater number of people simply choose quick pick rather than working a system to select their own numbers.
However, a study a few years back showed that people who have some sort of system (all the way from using birthdays to sophisticated systems) and choose their own numbers to play do YES win more often ..... although there are fewer of those who go to the trouble.

Need help with pick 5 wheels....
If the numbers in the pool are belived to be EXACTLY EQUAL, play random combinations of whatever a reasonable budget allows. WHEN I WON 5/5 I ONLY played 2 SETS of numbers!!! And another time I just missed 5/5 because I didn't wheel my best 6 numbers. Playing in PA I often get 2 or 3 out of 5, on ONE ticket! I am assuming that the 90%/25 theory is not just one drawing? Part of the catch is that in order to guarantee 3/5 the 90% has to be real. i.e. under fair conditions your chances on 3/5 w

Calif. family wins $84 million SuperLotto jackpot
That is interesting. Didn't even need a quick pick. Just put the slip infront of your daughter and tell her to fill in 5 spots where the first five are and then one from the second group and presto....88 million dollars. Can you imaging picking those numbers just from looking at the bet slip. I bet many people now are going to ask her to do that. She could open up a lottery hotline or store. haha. I doubt she will need the money any time soon though. Congrats to the family!Brad

random number generator
I recently developed a program to generate random numbers for almost any conceivable lottery game. It is an alternative to quick picks in state-run lotteries. It's similar to the quick pick generator on this website, except for the scope ( any game), you don't need to be on the Internet, and you can seed it with a number of your choice. It runs on any version of Windows. I'm offering it on a try it and if you like it send me $5 basis, or I would just welcome any comments or suggestions. It i

Lotto winners. Luck or the Creator?

missouri powerball winner comes forward!
I love it when the winners report if their numbers were a Quick Pick or their usual numbers. It is also nice (if they remember) to let us know HOW LONG THEY HAVE BEEN PLAYING. Nevertheless, I have been playing since 1998, and I know there are LP enthusiasts who have been playing longer, and I congratulate them for their patience...how did you keep your sanity! Finally, I can't help but remember reading about the woman who played for 15 years and won. Even her daughter had discouraged her, but t

The Math and The Lottery
MrBobb wrote: My lottery playing partner attempts to eliminate 8 to 10 numbers in the GA and FL Fantasy 5 games through analysis and most times he is successful and those numbers aren't drawn... I'm not a number cruncher but if I was I would be looking for 8 to 10 numbers that WOULD BE drawn and wheel them to cover those possibilities. One would automatically eliminate all the other numbers in the field but there is still no guarantee that you are going to win any thing. In most cases, I sti

SoCal man sues to get share of $315 million lottery jackpot
good advice. I'm reviewing our rules too. I've drafted a receipt for the pool buy-in that includes the rules and requires members to sign that they have read, understand and agree to the rules. The rules used to allow me to pick the numbers but I'm changing it so that I have to buy quick picks.I won't give up the option of being able to buy my own tickets though. This freedom is given to all members and has always been a part of our rules and is included with every email distributing the n
