Total Pick 3 Base Prizes Won (includes online and retail wins): $1,431,285 Total Pick 3 Fireball Prizes Won (includes online and retail wins): $13,028 I thought the payout would be around $700,000. Shows you how wrong I can be. Even a giant $$$ operation like the Virginia Lottery has got to feel some pain from all the huge P3/P4 payouts they've had recently.

I thought Kicker was tied to one of the other Ohio games--wasn't sure which. Michigan and Virginia had Kicker games at one point as well, but both discontinued long ago. Virginia's, I remember, ended in the late 1990s. When I was first starting to follow the lottery, I wondered why states even had both a 3-ball and a 4-ball numbers game. Why not just a Pick-4 with the option of playing the front 3 or back 3? Or why not a Pick 6 with options for Pick 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6?
