Aaron Donahue pi +cashman87 method
I've been working with the pi's lately myself (3.14 and 1.618), multiplying and dividing by. Thanks for posting the links to those threads, I didn't see them before! And yes, totally agree there has to be something done to the numbers before you put them through the pi's but haven't figured it out yet.
