The electronic version of one-arm bandits is coming to Oregon bars and restaurants this summer.Under prodding from Gov. Ted Kulongoski, the Oregon State Lottery Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to allow slot-machine-style games on the state's network of video-poker terminals. That means more than 2,200 bars and restaurants across Oregon could offer electronic slots as soon as July 1. Tennessee Senator pushes for bigger lottery scholarships
Whitney McKinney has at least a year before she has to decide where she'll go to college. But the McGavock High School junior said she's already looking closely at two private universities in Tennessee and one in Georgia. If Tennessee adds $1,000 to $2,000 a year to its HOPE Scholarship, however, choosing between the Volunteer State and the Peach State won't be nearly as tough.''I think that would make a very big difference,'' McKinney said. ''It's a lot when I think about college tuition. Raisin

computerized powerball,distant future?
I haven't been able to keep up with the lottery news lately but it may happen very soon to Powerball if they haven't shot it down already. Powerball was considering going computerized before the end of year. I got that info straight from the MO lottery office when I wrote them a letter about MO going computerized earlier this year. You can read the letter here. It is mentioned in the long letter on page two. https://www.lotterypost.com/threads.asp?ForumID=3 TopicID=91512 PagePosition=5For all o

Georgia Senate Candidate Proposes National Lottery
The problem I have with the proposal is that, if it is ever put into place it'll wind up like the Social Security program. Social Security was established strictly as a retirement program for those who had no company benefits when they reached 65 but over the years the politicians saw the fund as a cash cow to fund their own pet entitlement prgrams. Now that system is threatened. Who is to say that the pols won't rape an education program as well? I promise hasn't, doesn't and won't work, as a

Online lotteries legal/ fair?
QWEST46 -Strange - am having private discussion about with another LP member. Only negative post I've read about them was posted more than 3 years ago. Based in Costa Rica. But they've been in business for a while, and the lottery payout percentage appears to be 90.00%. BobP is right about protection, though - non-existent. Although they accept direct credit card deposits, you'd be better served by setting up a PayPal or similar account, since there is a proposal afoot to make direct deposits fr

Other vendors could have saved Tenn. lottery $23M
Both SciGames and GTECH voluntarily lowered their bid costs after they were selected as the winner.....riiiiiight.I think it went a little more like this....Committee.... We really like your proposal and can forsee a good working relationship between us, but the cost is a little high. It sure is a shame that your bid was so high.... SciGames/GTECH.... Did we really put that amount in the contract...I thought I had told them to change that. See, here is the final document we were intending to s

What a program needs to be good ...
Well, I currently redesign the underlying engine to allow an average lottery player to feel confident! Of course, the final target is to produce an easy to use program but still has all the advanced features working as well. This is a challenge for any programmer worldwide. The program is actually based on reverse prediction as the only source of information we have is the past drawings. This allows the program to semi-modify it's parameters as user input/decision is still required! Don't be c
