Analysts say online gambling law a bad idea
From the article;
The people who are pushing this ban in Congress ... try to argue these sites prey on children, which is totally ridiculous, he said. If your kid has access to your checking account or credit card and is making transfers to off-shore accounts across the world, Internet gambling is the least of your worries.

Why It Is Important to Remain Anonymous.
Hi nc,
If you really did win, congratulations - and sorry about your rough time. It seems like winning a jackpot is tougher than anyone would like to think. I remember reading an article about jackpot winners a while ago - someone took a poll and found that those who won were "less happy" than the losers.
If I did win now, I'd like to think I'd be more prepared to handle it than a few years ago (keep it on the DL!!!!!) in part because of what i've read here on LP.
good luck.

“Broke as a chook”

That's sweet of you to write, but I think she was referring to the article. Click on the link and you'll get a much happier story. I just learned that a chook is slang for chicken in Australia. Thought we weren't supposed to use fowl language on this board (nyuck, nyuck, nyuck)
Oops! Must be my headache. I'm reading these posts out of order. Well at least

US House votes to kill Internet gambling

Gamblers' fears might be unwarranted
Internet gamblers worried about losing their hobby may take comfort from this golden nugget of information.
Those who advise Internet gambling investors don't seem worried at all.
London-based financial analysts see Tuesday's vote by the U.S. House of Representatives to ban Internet gambling as much ado about nothing, according to Reuters.
That's because analysts don't expect the U.S. Senate to act on the bil

US House votes to kill Internet gambling
However, the lottery exemption wasn't in the bill back in 2000. If it had been, Abramoff's client probably would have backed the bill. Online lotteries are exempted this time around at the behest of states.

Unclaimed lottery tickets
There was an article not showing on here yet about a $2 scratch-off in Indiana that won a $5 prize. The winner missed the deadline because the game ended without their knowledge. They sued. The cost to the Hoosier Lottery is hundreds of thousands and the $5 winner is now ending up with $15K!
As long as money is available to pay the prize, there should be at least 5 years or more. For that matter I think stores should post some kind of list showing that winning tickets were sold there and stil

Writing about online gambling now illegal in WA state
From the article dvdiva posted the link to:
The state's gone from trying to control gambling, which is legit, to trying to control people speaking about gambling.
It's hard to take coming from a state that bombards us with pitches for the biggest sucker's bet of all. You know, the one they call the lottery.

Protecting your numbers
There is no rule engraved in stone that says you can not win more than once, so be open to the possibility. Also when you start winning smaller amounts it is most of the time indicative that you're warming up on a winning streak so greet those small wins with joy and delight so more can be on the way and not stopped by a negative attitude of disappointment.
Read many years ago in the defunct Lotto World magazine that people who choose their own numbers win more often with those .... although

LP members and lottery beliefs
I think it's all luck too, but who's to say? The only reason I chose luck is that so many people who never played before win the lottery, and many of them buy quickpicks. If you're talking about the pick 3 or 4 games, maybe a little skill is involved using a lottery system. I'd even stretch that to include Fantasy 5, although most tickets that win are QPs. I check the press releases regularly, and that's what I see on the FL web site. However, there are too many winning combinations to even

Lottery company used 'sucker lists' to target elderly
I agree with everyone who has posted so far. Shame on these people for scamming innocent victims. Also, Bryan is correct in assuming that just because a person is older, he isn't necessarily naive or gullible. Uff Da also has a good point, because so many elderly have recently lost a spouse and are facing decisions they never made before. However, the article reads:
Using so-called sucker lists lists of consumers who had been defrauded by telemarketers in the past
So these parasites
