Pennsylvania Lottery privatization Q&A
Secretaries of aging and revenue discuss Camelot Group bid If Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett accepts an English company's bid to handle the day-to-day management of the Pennsylvania Lottery, no two state agencies will be more immediately and profoundly affected than the Departments of Aging and Revenue. The Aging Department is one of the main beneficiaries of the $3.5 billion Lottery, which funds programs ranging from Meals on Wheels to in-home care services for Pennsylvania's senior citize

N.J. Assembly panel clears one-year anonymity for lottery winners
haymaker, ...for instance, statewide casino gambling was proposed in 74 and failed,... Oh there were casinos but the guys running them didn't want competition from legal casinos, and made some politicians 'offers they couldn't refuse', and greased some palms along with that. Not Jersey but NY, one of the guys I worked with when I first got to Vegas learned to deal in NYC....the casino where he worked was on the 3rd floor of a building with a NYPD precinct HQ on the first floor. As

Lame idea or not?
I really wouldn't be too concerned about it. Why heck, everybody in the US knows Brad Duke of Idaho netted over 80 million dollars (annuity amount was about 220 million) and he even publically claimed his prize. I just saw the TLCML episode covering him now years after that big jackpot win and he says he has more money than he started out with and it looks like he is living a good, peaceful life despite the fact that many people know he is a loaded man. So I really wouldn't be too concerned abou

What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
LOL....Josephus, don't let the number of posts fool you. People with big number of posts are shooting the breeze, making jokes, or spending more time talking about winning the lottery, or how one can't win the lottery, than working on a method. Others come here to shake the trees and inspect the coconuts that fall. Quantity does not equal quality. You have to hope no one has bad intent in their visitation, but you never know. Just look at the REPORT SCAM/SPAM button in your PM box. Ther

Lottery bill could limit winner's take
Well, Michigan citizens may as well go and live in Communist China because living there would be less intrusive! What a snip nerve. I think it's an absolute fallacy and fabrication that the poor are buying lots of tickets. They may have one or two dollars to spare and if they buy a million dollar winner (or whatever) then they are entitled to the win wherever the money came from and it's nobody's snip business how they came get that win. Grrrr... Are the poor to be denied any pleasure because th

POLL: Best entertainment at the Institute for the Lottery Insane
This week we'll discuss a new game proposal, the all-U.S. Pick 3 combined total sum game. That's right, you'll be able to bet on the combined total sum of all the Pick 3 games in the U.S., having your choice of Mid-Day only, Evening Only, or All Games Combined! Rumor is people are already working on a software protram to crack this one and six other people claim to have a system. Ironically, beyond the six that claim to have a system, 146 claim to have won money on this game, although it h

Bill would boost California Lottery jackpots
Voters approved the lottery in 1984 with a requirement that at least84% of the money go back to the public, at least half in prizes and 34%to schools. Hayashi's proposal would increase the amount going back tothe public to 87%, which would allow more revenue to be put into biggerjackpots, but would leave it to the Lottery Commission to decide howmuch goes to education. I am surprised only 84% goes to the public. That means 16% goes to the lottery companies. That seems a bit excessive to me.

State senator wants to repeal Arkansas Lottery
Madison said she has concerns about state government promoting a form of gambling that she believes targets the poor, particularly during tough economic times. We get good revenue from taxes on tobacco, we get good revenue from taxes on alcohol, but we're not out there promoting people to drink or encouraging them to smoke, and yet we are encouraging people to buy lottery tickets, and I think that's probably not a good position for our government to take, Since their getting good revenues ,
