Mathematics and the Lottery
Considering the main issues of the regression models in the econometric analysis, in practice, the researcher often faced with a situation where the regression is given a bad , ie, t-statistics, most estimates are small, reflecting the insignificance of relevant independent variables. At the same time, the F statistic can be quite large, which indicates the significance of the regression as a whole. One possible reason for this phenomenon is known as multicollinearity and occurs when there is

d : a functional relationship between two or more correlated variables that is often empirically determined from data and is used especially to predict values of one variable when given values of the others <the regression of y on x is linear> ; specifically : a function that yields the mean value of a random variable under the condition that one or more independent variables have specified values That's the definition that jschay56 was referring to, but just adding up the numbers in e

Now we analyze for the whole number. We will start with Data Direction set to -Bottom of Sheet for this sample, because the newest data is at the bottom. Everything else is set to the defaults. The first 10 lines of the Wave Matrix are shown below. In addition to having an effect on the waves, the settings affect the Remainder values. Remainder values can be greatly varied or they can be vary narrow. In the examples that show the setting changes of by Amplitude Only or by Frequency Only, we can see the Remainder values for each. We'll post just the first 10 lines. by Amplitude Only Type = Linear BMA Degree 1 BMA Degree 2 BMA Degree 3 BMA Degree 4 BMA Degree 5 BMA Degree 6 BMA Degree 7 BMA Degree 8 Algorit

There's another aspect of setting changes. When looking for the optimal setting, you should look at the degree of BMA for each wave. The degree of BMA for each wave is at the top of the table, listed as BMA Degree X; where X is the associated wave for that BMA calculation. For Wave 1 it will be BMA Degree 1 and will have a value just below it. In our original posted set for this Pick 3, Column B example, posted below, the value of the BMA Degree for Wave 1 is, -1.019.

The Wave Matrix - Excel 2007 Addin
Here's the Wave Matrix Excel ribbon. It's designed left to right, so the last operations are done on the right. Beginning with the Wave Matrix Settings. Regression is one of 4 types: Linear, Logarithmic, Exponential, and Power. Choose a regression that best fits the kind of data you are analyzing. Data like stock quotes tend to be Exponential. Data like Pick 3 numbers tend to be Linear. Waves are the number of waves you'd like to produc

Note, when preparing your data. Please make sure your data is in proper order. The most recent data should be at the bottom of the sheet and older data at the top. Right now, there is no way for the Wave Matrix to know what direction the data is in. You should have at least 10 data samples to do generate a Wave Matrix. Also, only select one column of data. The addin does not have the ability to handle more than one column at a time. From a previous thread on this s
