I would think what they are saving in 'operating costs' (as if they couldn't afford to broadcast live dawings) they are losing in trust.

NJ Lottery drawings to return to broadcast TV
Public Media, the New Jersey parent company of NJTV, announced today that New Jersey state lottery numbers will once again be carried on New Jersey public television. Beginning September 6, the Lottery's daily winning numbers results will be aired at 1:58 p.m. and 8:58 p.m. seven days a week. Massachusetts Lottery to end TV broadcasts
Not broadcasting LIVE drawings on over-the-air TV is a very bad idea. Most lotteries take security and integrity as a high priority and by not offering live drawings over broadcast TV station(s) this jeopardizes the public's perception of fair and honest drawings. The lottery is such a huge profit maker and should have no problem financially doing whatever it takes to keep the LIVE drawings on free broadcast TV...
