When I play PowerBall, I play five lines. (Ticket costs $10) I let let the terminal do 5 Quick Picks for the first 5 numbers on each line, but I manually select the top 5 hitting PowerBalls for all time. You are correct that no one did anything wrong in buying the tickets because they broke no existing law. However the point is that everyone should get an equal chance and the game should be such that the number of tickets sold per draw has a reasonable chance of winning.
