Maybe when a lottery does a roll over thats your chance
I had a theory once that the main frame of the lottery computers at 10:30 would generate a list of all the numbers played and select a number not played and it would be the winning number selected at the drawing at 11. That is how the jackpot, would continue to roll, unless of course someone bought a quick pick at 10:35 with the winning combo. They really don't nead to do that though, the number combos are infinite.

Why Quick Picks win...Hint: It's *NOT* what you think, folks!
Greg...as I make these comments please note I have not read The Lottery Solution, so any insight you can offer would be appreciated. As you mention a ticket in NY and CA are purchased, this specfic reply will be based upon the Mega Millions game. You state the number of combinations to be sold is controlled . This implies a pool of numbers is offered for sale, while another pool of numbers is held back. Does this mean that all of the lottery machines in the Mega Millions states are linke

Whether it's a quick pick, numbers off of the serial number of a dollar bill noticed while waiting in line, or a set of numbers that someone put six months of tracking and research into, if any of those sets of numbers hit on the night played, it still comes down to nothing other than the luck factor.

Anyone who would win a jackpot and then kvetch becuase they won via a quick pick and says it would have been so much more rewarding had it been numbers I picked myself that won it has a problem far beyond lotto or gambling.

You'd drive yourself crazy trying to keep track of those,I know I would. Better to just stick with the same numbers, your own preferably, and avoid the quick pick worries.

qp happiness for one draw...
Luckily, I don't remember quick pick numbers, cuz I would fall into a deep depression if they were to hit a future drawing. But I can't afford to play a bunch of numbers each time either, so I just toss qp tickets and forget about it.

are you superstitious?
if the clerk is rude i wont play there again but i dont think of that as superstitious. i only play one set of numbers i picked the rest came from somewhere else or a quick pick because i have been wrong for so many years with my own picks that i just settled on one set for me and the rest from almost anywhere else.

When do you buy your QP's?
I live in FL too. I've purchased my tickets a day ahead of time, on the day of the drawing and as late as 9:30 at night. I guess you could call around to find out which stores keep their lottery terminals active until 11. I think you can purchase Lotto tickets up to 10:45, but I'm not 100% sure. I've also bet the same 4 combinations for over 12 years, bet quick picks as well, at different stores, in different towns, at different times. When you consider there are almost 23 million com
