$1.3 billion Mega Millions lottery winner's family sues him for not sharing jackpot
Its my understanding that this sara person was under the condition to not reveal anything. NDA clause , etc.
No where did it say John had to keep his trap shut. Clearly he told his gf and possibly his Dad.
Unsure a statement is a contract when speaking with his father. Oral contracts are hard to prove in court. Just even a slight twist of wording in the conversation will or could determine if its a contract or just a joke. I've been known to jokingly say to folks, ohh sure (haha) if I w

Alabama Lottery bill falls short by one vote
Alabama lawmakers sick of indecision following years of debate
By Kate Northrop
A bill to authorize a state lottery and casinos in Alabama failed by just one vote, the closest the state has ever come to enacting a state lottery since 1999.
One vote made the difference in the Alabama legislative session, resulting in voters just barely missing out on seeing a lottery question on the ballot this year.
The last time Alabama residents saw a lottery proposal in the voting booth was in

Depression and the Lottery
It's the culture. Many of them were playing street numbers long before it became legal.
I guess you would have to walk a mile in their shoes to understand their behaviors and motivation.
Confucius say, To know what you know and know what you do not know is characteristic of one who knows.
Personally, I know what I know, which is a LOT less than I DON'T know.
Unfortunately, many people don't know what they don't know.

UK woman claims she won £1 million lottery prize, Camelot says its £10
Award her the prize plus legal fees, something more for it taking 8 years of suffering through this.
Doesn't anyone proof read these news articles for minor errors any more? It's a toss whether LP should fix the errors for readability when it isn't LP's errors. IMO
Your Numbers section of the screen matched on in the Winning Numbers section,

Americans gamble over half a trillion dollars illegally each year, AGA Report says
The Kentucky pick 3 does pay $600 for $1, but players can't play on credit like they can with a bookie.
The AGA represents the legal gaming industry and is making an educated guess on the total amount of money wagered on all forms of illegal gambling. The pick 3 and/or policy game wagering is only a tiny part. Doubt your neighborhood bookie will book PB and MM wagers. In Nevada players can legally wager millions on just about every sporting event and over 20 other states allow online sports

What a fool!
Tasha,
You need to read the links Todd supplied and reread the facts.
One, there was a settlement so there was no giving of money back to her outside of the agreed upon settlement. It appears that the facts were not in favor of the nephew, thus the settlement resulted in some of the money in her favor.
Two, there was a substantial question of fact since she claimed the nephew put his phone number, etc. on the ticket without her permission. She is not an attorney and clearly misunders

$1.5 billion Mega Millions winner explains how "Lottery Lawyer" Jason Kurland stole $83 million
Agreed. A lot does depend upon the type of lawyer involved.
The winners husband could possibly have a specialized practice and limited it to for instance to Real Estate. If that's the case then it wouldn't be unusual for them to feel the need to hire an attorney with a different specialization. Why not hire a lawyer that bills himself as a Lottery lawyer ?
