$1.23 BILLION: Powerball jackpot juggernaut keeps rolling
You'll be taxed at the highest rate - 37% So you'll have 630K after taxes. Am right there with you, but I always have the PP on so that's going to be 2M for me and 1,260,000 after paying Uncle Sam.

The Idiot Tax
Ignore the little jack asses that live in your head, they get everything wrong, they say. Doesn't matter where the taxes come from, property, sales, income, lottery, when have you last seen your tax dollars at work? The pot hole is still there, but they added a speed bump. That's about all government is, a bump in the road. BobP Excel at PE if you want to earn a living throwing things.

Maryland: 2/1 - 2/29/2024
The only thing you have to do now is sign a long print out from the terminal, you show your Drivers License and Social and the claim is done on the lottery terminal no more forms to fill out. Of course, then after that the agent pays you. PS back in 2016 they had a 10% added bonus to the prizes...I hit a P4 straight for 5K but it was $5500 with the promo so I had to go lottery headquarters to collect instead of an Agent + guess what my check was for? $1.33 billion Powerball jackpot won by one ticket sold in Oregon
I think we got so blinded by the billion dollar jackpots people think that 1M is loose change. For the second prize winners that live in a state that doesn't tax the lottery that's 630K after taxes. 630K won't necessarily buy you a mansion or a yatch, but 630K can leave someone debt free and a little towards retirement. 630K is not an amount to be frowned upon. That's my attitude towards the game.

$975 MILLION: Massive Powerball jackpot increases again
Like they say, you have to be in it to win it On that note, I got my one PB with PP and my one MM with the multiplier. Who said that 36M is not a significant amount. The around 10M after taxes is a lot of money - let's not pretend that our lives can only be changed by 100M I would still buy a ticket if the jackpots reset at 10M. Good luck to all.

Michigan woman finds out through Facebook that she won $1 million Powerball lottery prize
Assuming no other income and using the head of household tax brackets (2024) Note that: my understanding is that second division Powerball payouts are the full cash amount and not an annuity) Federal tax = $326,493.40 State tax (6%) = $60.000 Total tax = $386,493.40 Or, cash in the hand after State and Federal taxes ($1,000,000 - $386,493.40 ) = $613,506.60

$1.3 billion Powerball winner revealed by Oregon Lottery as three people splitting jackpot
This guy had no idea what he wanna do with that money! looks like big money for wrong person! Why should an entrepreneur or inventor never win the lottery! Consider this scenario: someone who had a vision for few million dollars. Suddenly, they win 400 million, and they're clueless about what to do with it! On the other hand, entrepreneurs or inventors often struggle through numerous hurdles to secure just $10,000 in investment. With lottery winnings, they could potentially create

$1.33 billion Powerball jackpot won by one ticket sold in Oregon
This past week, I matched Zero on the Tuesday and Friday MM and matched Zero on the Monday, Wednesday and Saturday PB. But you know what, I am still in it. Will head out and buy my QP for PB - one line three draws and one line two draws for MM. As always adding the extra $1 - total ticket cost is $15 for the week. A 5.9M win after taxes is a life changing amount for me. Hitting 2nd prize would be life changing. Onward we go, one draw at a time.
