In the last few decades, legal gambling has gone from being the exception to being the norm. Once upon a time, you had to look hard and travel far to find it. Nowadays, if you chance to venture out the front door, odds are good it will find you.

Analysts say online gambling law a bad idea
'Moral crusade ... is wrong for about 1,000 reasons'
Yesterday, the Department of Justice [DOJ] announced charges against 11 individuals and four companies accused of taking sports bets from U.S. residents in the $12 billion a year online gambling industry.
The charges focused on the persons and companies that supported BetonSports PLC, a U.K. incorporated, publicly traded company and popular Internet sportsbook that claims to have 1.2 million registered users.

Gamblers may look over their shoulder now, but experts say a new Internet gambling ban won't keep bettors from ponying up, just turn them on to overseas payment services out of the law's reach.
