Big win comes just two months after game goes on sale in state
Ohio has a $261.6 million Powerball winner less than two months after the state joined the multi-state lottery game.
The Ohio Lottery says the only winning ticket matching all six numbers in Wednesday night's drawing was sold at a store in Sunbury, about 20 miles north of Columbus in central Ohio.

Powerball lottery jackpot raised to $260M
Largest Powerball jackpot of the year

The multi-state Powerball lottery drawing happened last night once again without any jackpot winners, causing the new jackpot for Wednesday's drawing to grow to an estimated $260 million, with a cash option of $134.2 million.
Saturday night was the 11th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner.

Powerball lottery 10x promotion starts today
Starting today, May 1, lottery players across the United States purchasing Powerball tickets with the Power Play option will have a chance to increase their winnings by ten times.
Between now and May 29, the Multi-State Lottery Organization (MUSL) will replace one of the 5x multipliers with a 10x when drawing the Power Play number. The Power Play multiplier determines how many times non-jackpot prizes are multiplied for players who purchase the option.

Powerball outmuscles Mega Millions in sales, jackpots
Powerball is on a roll.
Wednesday's annuity jackpot got to be gigantic $252 million by leaving the main rival in the dust.
Both grew for 11 drawings, but the top prize in Mega Millions rose only to $143 million Tuesday night.
When states began selling both lotteries on Jan. 31, observers wondered how they'd fare head to head.
The verdict seems to be in.

Arkansas man wins second $10,000 Powerball prize
An Arkansas lottery player claimed a $10,000 Powerball prize at Arkansas Lottery headquarters Thursday for the second time.
William J. Newberry of Green Forest Thursday redeemed a winning Powerball ticket for a $10,000 prize. This is Mr. Newberry's second $10,000 Powerball win.
Newberry purchased both winning tickets at Powell's One Stop on Highway 62 East. He said he was going to spend some of his winnings buying more Powerball tickets.

Couple thanks store clerk after claiming $1M lottery prize
Frank and Patricia Proud of Durbin are $1 million richer from a Powerball ticket purchased at Trent's General Store at Bartow in Pocahontas County.

Arkansas Lottery gets its first Powerball jackpot winner
Just two months after the first Powerball ticket was sold in Arkansas, the state has produced its first jackpot winner.
The 29-year, 30-installment annuity jackpot was $25 million, which can also be claimed as a $12,153,621 million cash option. The net payout after the automatic 25% federal tax withholdings for the cash option would be $9,115,216. Arkansas does not withhold state tax from lottery prize payouts.

Kentucky Lottery approves adding Mega Millions
The Kentucky Lottery Corporation's board of directors has approved a cross-selling agreement allowing sales of the Mega Millions multi-state jackpot game in the Commonwealth.
Tentatively set to go on sale in Kentucky at the end of January 2010, lottery players will have both Mega Millions and Powerball available as multi-state multi-million dollar games.
