Writer accuses agent of stealing 'Lottery Ticket' movie
Ice Cube's new movie Lottery Ticket doesn't come out for another week, but there's already a legal fight over the flick from a screenwriter who claims his agent ripped off his idea and gave it to another one of his clients.
The man filing the lawsuit is Tom Huang, who once wrote an episode of The Mullets back in 2003.
According to legal documents, Huang claims he came up with an idea for a movie back in 2004, wrote a treatment for it. He later talked it over with his agent Brad Kaplan.

Thieves try to cash stolen S.C. lottery tickets in N.C.
A Gastonia, N.C., woman accused of stealing scratch-off lottery tickets from a Clover Mini-Mart tried to retrieve prize money in North Carolina and successfully cashed 27 winners in South Carolina before being caught.
Kristi Lynn Welch, 20, was booked in York County on Monday night in connection with a break-in at Borderline Mini-mart on U.S. 321 in Clover, authorities say.

Wrong guy: Cops beat up lottery player
A San Jose man has hired a lawyer after police wrestled him to the ground, handcuffed him and kicked him in the face in a case of mistaken identity.
The victim, 23-year-old Henry Stevens Amador, had walked into his neighborhood convenience store Friday to buy a lottery ticket.
As Amador was walking to his car, he says he was rushed by a police officer with a gun pointed at him and another who knocked him to the ground.

Judge orders release of ex-NC Lottery official
A judge on Tuesday ordered a former North Carolina lottery commissioner convicted of five counts of the honest services law released from a Georgia prison.
U.S. District Judge James Dever III said Kevin Geddings should be set free as he seeks to have his 2006 conviction vacated. The decision came just hours after prosecutors said Geddings should be released.

A leather folder may hold the key to the cash and assets taken from slain Lottery winner Abraham Shakespeare and what may be owed to his estate.

Store owner jailed one year for stealing $5.7M lottery ticket
A former convenience store owner who cheated a customer out of a $5.7 million lottery ticket has been sentenced to a year in jail.
Hafiz Malik, 63, sat quietly as Ontario provincial court Justice Rebecca Shamai pronounced sentence Tuesday at Old City Hall courthouse in downtown Toronto.
Dressed in a black T-shirt and grey slacks, the white-haired Malik listened intently to the judge's reasons.

The British tradition of national lottery has been traced back to the 16th century when a jackpot of 5,000 was up for grabs and participants had to wait three years to find out if they were winners.

Seven arrested in underground lottery sting
Seven people are facing felony bookmaking charges after authorities say they were operating an illegal lottery out of four markets in San Pablo and Richmond, California.
Authorities say the lottery was broken up after a sting operation led by the California Lottery's Security and Law Enforcement Division.
