N.Y. Lottery computer switch a glitch for some retailers
New York Lottery players who frequent a popular Albany-area convenience store chain may be out of luck for a little while. Lottery spokeswoman Jennifer Givner says terminals at some Stewart's Shops weren't working Sunday because of a glitch related to a statewide computer-system change. N.Y. Lottery posts record sales
The New York Lottery posted record revenue and profit in its latest fiscal year, the state announced on Thursday. The lottery made $7.8 billion in sales of scratch-off tickets, other games and casino gambling in its 2009-10 fiscal year, which ended March 31. It is a 2.1 percent increase over the previous year, which was the old record-high. The lottery made $2.67 billion of profit, a 5 percent increase from the previous record, set last year. The profit is used to help fund K-12 education.
