Germany debates online gambling
Premiers from the 16 German states were unable to reach unanimous agreement Wednesday on proposed laws to protect state gambling monopolies by banning online gambling in the country.
The heads of the individual German states met to discuss the ban, which would have to be approved by the federal parliament. Three German states Bavaria, Saxony and Hesse have already introduced state laws. Most of the German states run lucrative monopolistic lotteries and are keen to protect these revenues,

Male nurse wins record German lottery jackpot
The biggest jackpot in the history of Germany's national lottery went to a male nurse.
A 41-year-old male hospital nurse who is the father of three children, organizers said Tuesday, three days after the winning number was drawn. The man had phoned the West Lotto company from the hospital in the western Westphalia region during the morning, but asked that his name not be published.

Analyst's outlook on Scientific Games downgraded
A Bank of America analyst on Monday downgraded Scientific Games Corp., which sells instant lottery tickets to more than 50 countries, saying that he was bearish on growth expectations in Germany.
Analyst David Vas downgraded the stock to Neutral from Buy, and lowered his price target by $5 to $31.

Record lottery winner rushes back to work
Germany's biggest individual lottery winner had no time to celebrate after becoming $27 million richer because he was too worried about being late for work.
When the salesman, who was not identified by WestLotto, arrived on Thursday to buy his weekly lottery ticket at a shop in the industrial Ruhr area he was told last week's 12-euro ticket that he hadn't bothered to check had won the jackpot.
