Players who are tired of traveling to claim centers or mailing away their winning lottery tickets to claim their prizes will soon have a new option. Next spring, the Massachusetts Lottery will begin allowing players to claim larger prizes through their phones.

Massachusetts Lottery to move one of its claim centers
New location will begin operations next week

The Massachusetts Lottery announced on Monday that they will be moving one of their prize claim centers to a different location.
Starting next Monday, Nov. 9, the Western Mass lottery office will begin operations at its new address at 383 Memorial Avenue, Century Plaza in Springfield. The current location at 20 Fort Street in Springfield will have its final day of operation on Friday, Nov. 6.

As of Wednesday, June 24, Massachusetts lottery offices are now open for large prize claims of $5,000 or more with some restrictions in place depending on the office location.

Coronavirus severely hurting Massachusetts Lottery sales
The Massachusetts State Lottery is taking a big hit as the COVID-19 state of emergency temporarily shutters many stores that sell tickets, Treasurer Deborah Goldberg told lawmakers Tuesday.
More than 1,800 of the state's 7,500 lottery agents are closed, she said. Many stores that remain open have chosen to limit or eliminate lottery sales as a result of staff shortages.

Daughter saves Massachusetts man from being victimized in sweepstakes scam
A dream of a lifetime seemed to have come true last week for an elderly Massachusetts man when he received a call from someone who claimed to represent Publisher's Clearing House.

About a decade after Linda Sweeney won a $1 million through the Massachusetts Lottery, the Dorchester resident celebrated another victory last week.

A Massachusetts man says two women cheated him out of $4 million in lottery winnings by taking advantage of his inability to read or speak English.

Judge rules Massachusetts Lottery can suspend high-frequency winners
The Massachusetts Lottery last week won a court fight over their efforts to fight suspected fraud.
The judge's decision lets the Lottery suspend a family of players who have cashed thousands of winning tickets.

A Massachusetts man won his second $1 million lottery payout last week less than two years after drawing a lucky ticket for the first time.
