    You can find the definition of a root at the bottom of the Deflate 3 and Deflate 4 systems.  Look for the Instructions section, and it's near the bottom of it.

     

    Check the State Lottery Report Card
    What grade did your lottery earn?

      I'm wanting to learn that too...  Especially how roots are used to pick numbers.

              example  156    sum is 12    root is 3                    you get the root by adding the sum

                 Life of a college student...an old college student... hope to graduate in May...then on to my Masters...

                  Only 2 1/2 more years to go....yippieeeeeeee 

                 Maybe I'll learn enough about the lottery to get a few hits large enough to pay off my student loans..  that would be real fun...    Thanks Again!

                  Other than Emilyg's explanation of Root  156 = 12 = 1 + 2 = 3 Root Sum

                  The other Root Sum is using the last digit of the sum.

                  For example:  9 9 9 = 27 = 7 Root Sum

                                        1 2 3 =  6  = 6 Root Sum
