That title really takes me back. There was a huge rock nightclub in downtown Louisville by that name back in the late sixties or early sdventies. That place was always packed and jumpin'. I remember getting in there with a fake ID the first time I went...lol.
Actually, Beggar's Banquet was the name of a Rolling Stones album that was released back in 1968, but I think the title originally came from a book. Johan Fabricius, a Dutch author, wrote The Beggar's Banquet under the original title - De grote geus - back in 1947. Since then, the title has been widely used for a number commercial and literary endeavors.
I guess there must be something about that title that appeals to people. Perhaps the lottery games provide a potential beggar's banquet for us poor, aspiring lottery players. What else offers a chance to get filthy rich for a buck?
